Maybe if your doing things to try to cool down your engine oil, and you want to see if so and so helps.
I have an autometer water temp gauge and an oil pressure gauge. Why you ask, well after getting the gauge, you will realize the stock temp needle will stay the same for a wide range of temps. Example, my coolant temp on my autometer gauge can be at 120, or 170 and the stock needle stays the same. The stock needle basically only measures the coolant like this, cold, warm, HOT , not very specific. Hope that made sense.
The reason for the oil pressure gauge, I am not running a stock engine and oil pressure was a big concern off mine when putting a new engine in.

Whats so funny about that ? If you built an engine up, and put thousand of dollars into it, would you not be scared or at least concerned about it.
And if you think an oil pressure gauge will not help, then you really don't know anything about how a stock oil pressure sensor works. It is designed to go off when you have 3psi of oil pressure, if for some reason you loose oil pressure, by the time your stock oil light goes on, you can kiss your engine good bye.

I experienced this recently. Me and my wife went on a trip and I checked the oil occasionally. Well about 180 or so miles away from home her oil pressure dummy light would flash off and on. I checked the oil best I could (dipstick is the same color as the oil ) and it looked fine. Took it to get a oil change a couple days later and that bitch had 1/2qt of oil ( out of 5 1/2). Sure this is a daily driver but that made me think about getting one for her car too....you never know. I am surprised that **** didnt get fucked up

Check ebay. That's where I got mine from. The I got myself a double pillar pod as well. I'm running fuel and oil pressure, EGT and boost.

Re: (BLUE EH3)
gauges are pointless unless u got something to back it up ie. supercharged, turbo, worked engine..ur on the verge of rice if ur puttin on these gauges...ur car should come with water temp and the voltmeter u dont need unless ur runnin a crazy system with another battery and the oil pressure u dont need unless ur have work done to ur car or oil pressure problems. otherwise u can put them infront of the shifter somewhere under the head unit...or have someone make u a fiberglass piece to fit them or the guage cluster on the side of the front windshield (dont recomend that tho makes that a pretty big blind spot)

Well for me i have a B18C-R in an EG and i do trackdays, so the oil gets hot, you want to keep an eye on it, if its running to warm, you run slower for a lap or too
If it gets too hot and breaks down, then bye by $3k+ worth of motor, for $100 of gauge its worth it . Water temps arent as important, especially if you have an oil temp gauge and oil pressure is only a worry on high speed tracks with long corners especially if you dont have a baffled sump. For me a dipstick is enough

Yea drop the voltmeter, if u really want one, get the new pioneer cd player it has one built in. You definetly should get the gauge holder that goes around the Intrument Cluster!!
2 gauges that no one but you can see is great!!

Depends what gauges you get, I mean are they for oil pressure, water temp, battery ?

I dont feel that is it neccessarily true. If you do a lot of road racing ide suggest oil pressure and water temp. No need of a crazy motor or built motor. I feel that those two are very important, especially for road racing. No reason for air/fuel, or volts. waste of money. Thats just marketing at its finest.

I'm sorry to say this, but you're a moron.
That's the nicest way I can say it. Some of us would rather know what's going on with our cars than trust the idiot lights to keep us safe.
And I do have plenty to back up my extra gauges that sit in my car.

Oil temp
Oil pressure - i am not convinced on this one, but better than most
Dont forget with both of the above you need a sandwich plate or tapped sump and work to install, there not plug and play
Water - to me, the car gauge tells me enough, and oil temp is soooo much more important
Tach - get a VFAC or RSM, or a shift light, big tachs are for me, the car one is good enough
Volt - i use mine so but there are more usefull
my 2p AGAIN

I love my oil pressure gauge, over the years you can actually see it go down a tad because of the wear on the engine
Water, lets just say the stock one has about 100 degree intervals, meaning my autometer temp gauge can read either 120 or 220 and my stock temp gauge always stays in the same spot.

Re: (90blackcrx)
I'm only running an oil pressure and a boost gauge because im to lazy to hook up anything else. But If your running your car hard you'd probably wanna know what goin on in there. Even if your racing a toyota echo it wouldnt hurt to have an oil pressure gauge.

WHOA WHOA, having a voltmeter (on my SAFC) saved my life. I noticed the battery draining before the car cut off in the middle of a BUSY street, nothing else gave me a clue, it was day time, so i really wasn't looking at anything else. I looked, noticed the battery was really low, and was able to get over right before my car cut off in heavy and fast traffic.
It's also nice to have when you have a system, just to keep an eye on da battery.

But when the battery is dead, then how good is the gauge jk
