Failed Inspection (EVAP, Cat, o2) - Possibly AfterMarket Head Unit Related?
Good Morning,
I have a 97' civic that I recently had to take into inspection - I passed all tests, but I have 3 "Not Ready" Monitors (Evap, Catalytic Converter, and O2 Sensor).
I do know that my battery did die about 3 months ago (a month prior to failed inspection) - but was driven for a month daily. Also, the day PRIOR to inspection it was the last huge rain storm in NJ and I hit a puddle and the CEL came on and lost a bit of power - which seemed to be water-intake as after a few hours of letting the car sit ( at work ) ...It drove fine with no CEL. I understood at that time that this could've caused my issue (it may have needed more time to situate itself from the CEL issue).
A month after all of that, I am still failing with these same 3 'Not Ready' signals.
Now the down-and-dirty...
I did replace my old (damaged wiring/broken stock head unit) with a Kenwood Head Unit. This had to be hard-wired in, but with plenty of color-code issues (though I used the text information and wired everything to match) ...I then recently did a search about this Not Ready issue I'm having and seen 2 things...
1. K-Line (which seemed more specific to VW's?)
2. Antenna Turn On line or another wire that can accidently trip the line due to a +12v current. (Ok, I really have no idea what any of this means).
Wondering if you guys might be able to shed some light?
