Ok so I'm currently in the process of building a B16 with a brian crower stroker kit in it and turbo setup im hoping to run some crazy boost and put out some good numbers on the dyno, heres the deal though I'm still rather new to the entire honda and tuner scene, ive done some homework but my heads spinning with all the choices and options out there for ecu's for the setup im gonna be running, ive looked into the Hondata S300 ecu, and the AEM EMS, Along with the Greddy E-Manage unit. I work at a shop in St. Charles and we have a mustang dynomometer and we use HP tuners software for tuning, what ive read so far on the various ecu's is that Hp tuners will work with the greddy ( and we have the greddy software also) and also that the AEM EMS will work with the program we run, now id rather go with the Hondata S300 but it says it needs to be used with crome, and i dont wanna go out and buy a tuning software that will only be used once or twice ( our shop tunes and builds mostly domestic cars, and im a big muscle car guy myself). So i need some input and help on what to decide, any kind of feedback or personal experiences are greatly appreciated.

I dont know that a Stroker kit would be that great with a turbo setup just cause the b-series motors all ready have good compression and then adding a stroker kit and turbo can be excessive. alot of guys usally lower the compression so they can run more boost. as far as programming and tunning is concrened if you go with the s300 you use hondata as the tunning program chrome is another program which just uses a romulater and chip burner. s300 is actullay a whole board that fits in the ecu with usb conections for your labtop and should come with the software. all you really would need after that is a wideband 02 to get a good tune. the s300 as the datalogging as well so you can even get a base tune or a pretty good tune on the dyno and if you need to make corrections on the street with your laptop. I dont know alot about greddys or aem stand alones but the s300 is more than enough to tune your setup or any setup for that matter. i think the sweetest thing is you can set boost per gear (10psi for 1st, 20 for 2nd, etc, etc) but it will do.

AEM-EMS and E-manage are programs more associated with all-out drag cars in my opinion and expensive. I would say use hondata s200 or s300, or use crome. They're is a free version of crome at tunewithcrome.com and you can buy the crome pro (has datalogging and more) for $150. I think you'll be set with those. Go to innovate motorsports for a wideband

how much money are you willing to spend????
if you want to run some stupied amounts of boost, get a b18c. bore it to a 2.0 and run the stroker kit. i'm saying b18c because you have more room to bore than a b16 (if i'm wrong say something). If you run the b18c, you'll have peak torque #'s pretty close to your peak hp #. Which would be the best option.
Crome can work just fine, but if you have the money, go hondata s300. Or even more.....way more and go aem.
Most commonly used ecu is the p28

well i dont plan on skimping on anything for this car, i would like to make a VERY fast daily driver thats reliable, and good on gas (somewhat) and the compression issue isnt a concern im gonna buy a set of CP 8.0:1 pistons and put those on the stroker kit, ive had the block sleeved and all cleaned and the mains for the crank have been align honed, ive had the head ported on both the intake and exhaust and is being completely built, the camshaft bores have also been align honed so this motor is for sure being built the right way and im spending the money to make it bullet proof and reliable, so i need a ecu that will match up to what i plan on doing

Keep in mind that a "bulletproof block" is only as reliable as the person who tunes your engine management. Any block can be ruined with mere seconds of poor tuning.
