Do you know more about lowering a civic?
I have been looking to get more information about lowering a civic. Every seller I ask assures me that their product is the best. Some say that it is not good to drop over 1.5 inches because the tires will start to wear unevenly. I have a gap, about 2.25 inches gap and I am using 205 17 40 tires. There are some H&R springs who sell for about $115 US and drop 2.5 front and 2.3 rear. Also Neuspeed makes 2 types that I know, Racing ( 2 and 2 ) and Sport ( 1.75 front and 1.5 rear ) and they cost about $120 US. These are Ebay Prices which have an addition of $40 for shipping. There are many other manufacturers some cost more, some cost less. My question is, how much should I lower the car, in order to make it better looking, easy to drive in the city. There are some springs that will drop up to 4 inches and are adjustable, I would never race, and I don’t think it will be comfortable. I want to have normal wear on my tires as well. So if you have lowered your civic, or maybe have some experience to share, your advice would be appreciated. My car is 1999 Civic (USA-EX) (CANADA-SI)

If you want coilovers, get some Ground COntrols. They come with Eibach springs and you can adjust your ride height.
You can always upgrade your struts also like some Koni Yellows. They are excellent for ride quality and when you put those with some Eibach Sportline springs, you will have a very nice ride. It just depends on how much you want to lower your car and if you want adjustability.

HR Sport springs
You can always upgrade your struts also like some Koni Yellows. They are excellent for ride quality and when you put those with some Eibach Sportline springs, you will have a very nice ride. It just depends on how much you want to lower your car and if you want adjustability.

Sport springs would be your best bet matched with some nice struts. You'll have a perfect drop and a very nice ride. It would help also to get some 16's.

Just get some quality coilovers ( so they are adjustable to your liking ) like Skunk2 , Eibach, etc.. and some quality shocks like Koni, Tokico, etc... to handle the higher spring rates.
The lower you drop your car, and the stiffer you set your shocks ( if they are adjustable ) the stiffer/ bumpier/ rougher your car will ride, because you have less suspension travel.
Definately get some sort of alignment kit ( for front and back ) so that you won't get the uneven tire wear. Will save a lot of $$ and will handle better.

When dropping more than 2 inches I suggest you get a camber kit. I bought an OBX camber kit for the front for a little over a hundred on ebay. This makes sure that your tires don't pull inwards on the top. It kinda 'busts them out' from the top to correct the camber. This will prevent the uneven tread wear on yo tires. I too got Sport springs..can't wait to put these bad boyz on in the next couple of days.

Once again...camber doesn't wear tires, toe does. You can run up to -3 degrees of camber on a Civic and not have any wear issues. But if your wheels are toed in or out you will get some bad wear. You won't need a camber kit unless you're absolutely slamming the car, which it doesn't sound like you want to do...good for you.

yes, but i know the toe is adjustable to a point, and front camber is adjustable to a point... but the rear has NO adjustment. But you can adjust the rear using the 'ol washer method. putting washers behind the upper conrol arm.. etc...
