Re: [FAQ] How-To: Change your Manual Transmission Fluid At Home
Did this **** last week. It's surprising how much of a difference it makes. Then again, mine was something that resembled motor oil 60,000 miles ago. Black water, brown silt, goop, and a few twigs is what came out LOL.

yup - $14 for the MTF from the Honda dealership. Good write-up for a simple, but often neglected maintenance procedure.

Re: [FAQ] How-To: Change your Manual Transmission Fluid At Home
Just used this guide. Worked great. Took forever to jack my car up, because Del Sol was too low for ramp stands (had 2 jack stands, not 4.) Fill bolt was really tough to get loose. Torque wrench came out of mothballs and served its purpose. Hoping all the oil will stay inside!

I was wondering were did you get the oil for the transmission? Becasue i went to auto zone and kragen and did not tell me anything. Did you go to the dealer and get them?

You can use motor oil. I used 10w40 Royal Purple. I used to work at kragen, the computer should have said that.

Yes, I went to Honda to get the transmission fluid. I also got the two washers needed for the fill bolt and drain bolt.

Re: Default [FAQ] How-To: Change your Civic Manual Transmission Fluid
Nice job on the "How to". Did mine about 4 hours ago, drove it on top of some 2x4s, at the edge of my garage - as you showed. My car has 151,000 miles and I'd be surprised if the fluid had ever been changed (I'm the 3rd owner - had it 2 months). I used the Honda fluid - why fuss about a little bit of money. The drain plug washer is the same as the oil pan.
This site is a wonderful resource - thanks to all the contribute.

Great writeup that helps make a simple job even simpler.
I have a $3.00 screw on pump from O'Reillys that fits most fluid containers. Also a good way to fill the tranny in such a tight space.

Bump for all you people that havent done this.
This is seriously one of the best fixes out there that is noticeable the second you drive it out of the driveway!!
If you had any gear grinds, they might still be there but a lot less noticeable.
DOOOOOOOOO ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Re: Default [FAQ] How-To: Change your Civic Manual Transmission Fluid
Does any one know if the washer for the oil pan drain bolt is the same as the one for the transmission fill hole bolt and the transmission drain bolt?
