Default Couple of newb questions

Blah, I'm home from school, sick, so I might as well try to make everyone else in a bad mood by asking dumb questions.

Okay, I have a 00 SI with a AEM CAI and a ractive axleback exhaust.... Now, the next thing i want to do it finish the exhaust work.... So... The piping that goes from the axle-back to the cat... (isn't that called the midpipe or b-pipe? eh, i dunno) Well, I need to get that obviously.... and then i want a dc 421 header.... but should i get a high flow cat as well? i mean, it makes sense to me, but i don't want too much airflow and not enough back pressure....

Also, after this I'll have the basics I/H/E......... so whats next? I don't really want to crack into the engine since i have no idea what I'm doing... so would a performance chip or ecu help any? If so, can someone give me a reputible brand or type? Or if you don't agree with the performance chip, what would you do?
Thanks in advance.

if your gonna do custom piping and a header u might as well get a high flow cat while your at it, next i would get some suspension such as springs/coilovers and shocks or full coilovers. i dont know if u have suspension done or not.

No i do not have any suspension work done, and I've considered it, but I don't know what I need or how much it will cost.... I know I'd like to lower my car a little bit but since i live in a mountainous area i don't want to get carried away lol.

Can someone give me a thread with info about suspension or just type me some stuff i need to know? I can't search this place for crap.....

Let's see here... the section of piping from the axel to the cat IS called the "midpipe", and if you are getting a header as well, I would definately get a high-flow cat... you wouldn't want to spend all that money and have a restrictive cat slowing you down!!

As for other modifications... it's really up to you and depends on your goals etc. If I were you I wouldn't get a "chip"... if you want to tune your car for I/H/E I would get a VAFC, it would be much more fun!!

If you just want a fun daily driver, then I wouldn't get too crazy...

Good luck!!

let me just say that, that was a very educated question. unlike some other noobs.
your on the right track. yes its a midpipe. get a cat and also a resonator so u have back pressure. now work on ur suspension. springs, struts and shocks if u can. then start learning more about engines.
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm start reading. good luck!!
