the only space issue i have so far is the dash being to far back and i dont know what to do with the fuel cell yet......i dont want it in the trunk compartment.....i want it underneath.....might have to go behind the seat under the frame....and if i do that i will run one on the other side and just use the stock corvette fuel pump setup.....it has 2 tanks in it too....

i guess its just that if you have done these kinds of things for so many years......some things seem too easy.......

dont get me wrong his integra is sweet...... just dont compare the two.....he wanted a rear drive stock feeling integra.....id have to give it to the rwd del sol....its more my style....he has way more time and effort into a car that will show a big enough difference in the way it drives.......

i have now decided that when i finish this civic.......im buying another del sol......and im going to do a mid engine swap on it.......and i promise you it wont take more than 2 weekends of working on it......and i wont spend more than $2500 on the whole thing....
ROFL
Ouch.. Glad mine has two engines..

To be honest it's not a hard swap to do (mid-engine).. its a hard swap to do right. Just like anything, if you put the hours into it, it shows with the final product. I'm sure you could do a project like that in 2 weekends, but it would look like you spent 2 weekends doing it, not to mention the thought process to do something different (like this civette) wouldn't be there.

For what it's worth I hope you go with something other than a sol, what else can you work from that wasn't already done [b HERE or HERE [/b]LOL

PS. this swap looks easy.. I bet I could do it in .. 1 weekend and a wednesday.

Keep up the good work

the whole pedal assembly is not a problem at all.....dont worry about it....there is a ton of room......battery....wtf.....who needs a battery.....lol....jk.....there are 1001 places to put the battery....the question is where to put the fuel cell(s)....lol.....without them being in the hatch area......dont worry ive actually got that one figured out too......now remember the hatch area will look pretty normal when im through.......will just be raised a bit......can still fit groceries back there.... the only issue will be the distance of the steering wheel to the seats....will be very close......oh yea and the shifter assembly will be moved forward about 8 inches too.....so remember that when looking at the seating position.....

The following reply was posted by Civette:

no...the wheel and seat are farther forward in the first pictures....

i spent the entire time after i got off work cleaning out the garage......i was tired of looking for stuff when i needed it and the garage was kinda hard to walk through.....im sure the neighbors will appreciate not having to look at my hoist and metal laying in the driveway anymore.......now i have room to work again......yeeaaaa!!!....and no more metal particles all over the floor!!!

i didnt see anywhere what u had planned for the motor ???? besides a giant v8 that throws off the entire weight balance of the car and would get blown away by a factory motor with a cheap turbo kit so you must have bigger plans i assume

fill me in

Some posts are about to be deleted. Do not flame the OP for doing something different, and do not argue with somebody who starts to flame.

If you quote the flame, you compound the error and make everybody's job harder.

Just report the original offence and let a moderator deal with it.

Man what a crazy build. Seriously.
You have mad welding skills too lol.

I have one question. And maybe I missed the answer through all the BS people were posting, but what is your goal or intended use for this car? I know you want to do something different but what are you going to do with it competition wise? lol I know you aren't doing all this work just to win a trophy at Nopi. lol
Just curious.

Seriously, not anything I will ever try to build but more power to you man! Cant wait to see some rolling shots someday! lol

Ok I just have one simple question. What are you going to do when you have to give it a tune up? I dont know much about LS1's so I really cant see how your going to take out the spark plug's arent they under that big cover thats going into the car? Anyways nice build man...Now turbo that thing and let's see some big numbers!!

he's said previously that working on it in the civic is easier than working on a corvette.

I would imagine it's as simple as popping off the fenders and going to town.

Funny you say that, I've always wanted to mess around with an insight, definatly not go this far, but at the very least drop a b or k series in it....I only know of one insight like this, all motor k, 300whp, full drag car. I forget who sponsors the car, skunk2 maybe?

And not sure if it's been answered, but was he gonna try to do anything about narrowing the front end? Or just flare out the front fenders and call it a day?

That "Insight" was built by Mike Gerber Fabrications... Norris carries ClutchMasters sponsorship...or at leats he did. The chassis work was awesome.

I hope he does check back in. Civette any reason that you narrowed the rear end so much? It looks like there is one hell of a difference in the front and rear width. With all your fab skills I would have thought you would have welded fender flairs to the rear quarter panels.

I am pretty sure that is in the re-post of his things, it was a multi-page topic for a while.

Basically, he debated for a while about just widening it, but decided on narrowing the rear to better fit. It was a 4" change I believe. The front, is likely to stay wide though. As he is keeping the whole drive-train, a front suspension that moves, turns etc... is a lot harder to narrow than a rear that only really has to worry about going up and down for the most part. Looking further down the road, it would not surprise me that he keeps this ride, and ends up modding the engine more somehow. Then he might need to get even wider wheels, and make that 4" difference up with more beef in the rear. But for now I am curious as to how it will affect the handling, I am sure it will be very interesting.

I must have missed that section i thought I had read everything in the 60+ pages. You are right it should make for interesting handling. I kinda thought the front would stay the same to keep things simple.
