Icon2 Civic model - A foreign owner challenge!?

Hi HT members,

I live in Brazil (also the place where I born) and I have a Honda Civic Hatchback VTi (EG6) - 1995 - powered by a 1.6L 16 valves DOHC VTEC engine (B16A3).

Along the last 10 years, it's getting harder and harder for me to find parts for my car in Brazil and then, I've been purchasing it from the US, Europe and Japan markets, however, I always have a hard time to find out if the parts fit or not in my car, because in the US and Europe, the car model description are different from the one used in Brazil.

I'm writing this post to see if any of you can help me to clarify what is the similar/right model for me to use when performing searches on ebay or any other website, that may help me to find the right parts.

Here it goes what I know, by now:

My car has the same engine as the Del Sol CRX/VTi (B16A engine), however, not all parts may fit, because the chassis and model are different (hatchback vs. targa/convertible).

Also, my car is a Hatchback with ABS system, with front and rear brake disks, however, the Del Sol parts do not fit when it comes to the rear parts.

I've heard that the SiR model in Europe is the same thing as the VTi in Brazil, but when I search for models in the US, it seems that neither these models exists...

Well, I think that's all I can share in hope to hear your comments and maybe find a solution for such challenge.

Thanks all in advance for your comments!!

Cheers from Brazil

In my research, all the USDM 92-95 Civics with ABS use the same parts. I believe the EX 4-doors have a slightly different front caliper from some reason though. If you want chassis specific brake system parts, the USDM 1994 Si w/ ABS will probably be your best bet. It's the only year/trim EG hatchback that had ABS as an option.

If you have access to a local dealership parts database, ideally you would look up your exact part numbers. Then you could plug those numbers into the US dealer website and see what comes back. Same part number, same part!

ABS sensors should be the same, if you need the hard lines then I suggest bending your own. Engine wise the majority of replacement parts should be the same as other B16's out there. You just need to be specific on what you need on the engine and cross reference part #'s.

Go to lingshondaparts.com, select your model and pick KM (=Brazil) as the country code. Bam. No more mistakes.

Honda Car Parts / Choose by Model / Genuine Honda Parts | Honda Cars | Honda Motorcycles | Honda Power Products | Lings Honda

Annoyingly, you have to "Add to Cart" to see the part number. I recommend downloading the European Honda EPC (google this) to avoid fussing with the Lings website. You may need to back-date your computer to 2005 to get it to open, otherwise it thinks it's out of date, but that's the only workaround you need.

EDIT: There's no SiR in Europe but there is a Euro VTi which will be quite similar to yours.

All, thank you very much for your suggestions.

Deschlong, the Lings website it is really easy to understand and I apparently found what I need (or at least what I think I need) in here...

Honda Car Parts / Choose by Model / Genuine Honda Parts | Honda Cars | Honda Motorcycles | Honda Power Products | Lings Honda

Part number: PFKL703931 (out of stock, sure... nobody said that would be easy - )... item number 14.

Now I'll check if I can download the Europe EPC in order to check if the part number that they use are the Honda OEM part number or the "Lings" part number...

Again, thank you very much for all your help!!

Awesome help guys... I found it even cheaper (USD 33.67) in some other websites... now I'll just wait for the technician who's evaluating my car to confirm that this is the part that really needs to be replaced and I'll order it.

Again, thanks everyone!!

Sigh! I've sent like 5 parts requests to them and never once heard back. Good luck. :\

I did actually make contact with them via facebook, but then they told me to submit my request via e-mail. You can imagine what happened next.

Hmmm, thanks for the advice... I still didn't ordered any part... my mechanic is still looking to find someone who has the same car as mine, to lend a spare reservoir cap and run some tests to see if that's really the part that I'll need to replace.
