lol, what engine do u have? You have to find out if your leaking or burning. Vtec does consume some oil, so if you wait 3 months to change your oil n you vtec around every day.... see what i am getting to here

Did you spill any on the ground as it came out? Or possibly swallow some? (and not just oil )

did u check ur oil dipstick before u changed the oil? i mean like was it LOW? or was it normal. if its normal then its okay because my cx retains some of its old oil too and theres also some oil in ur filter as well so i would think it would be normal. do you see purple smoke coming out of ur tailpipe wen u rev up ur engine? if so then ur leaking oil into the cylinder but if not check for leaks around ur motor. that my be the culprit. oh yea did u mean 2liters or 2 quarts? lol. because i changed the oil on my 94 accord 2.2L vtec and only about 3.6 quarts came out when its about 4.2 filled up.

just took it for a drive, no visible leaks that i can see, checked the dipstick, its right at the full mark, so its not like there was an extra 1.6 litres that didn't come out, and ya up in in canada they sell oil in litres not quarts, fucken metric system

Just so you know your filter holds about a quart or 2 of oil. Thats probably why your not seeing much. Was your car parked overnight before your drained? Because it takes a while for all the oil to go to the pan and even then the oil will still be in the motor but not enough to matter.

i changed my oil about 20 minutes after driving, but i doubt a litre and a half would b in there, i let it drain for about 10 minutes, till it was barely dripping out at all, and if there was an extra litre in there the dipstick would b showing way over full right?

How many kilometers between oil changes?

And D16Y7 DOES NOT TAKE 3.6 liters... it takes 3.3 liters... 3.6 liters if you change the filter too... so oil pan capacity is 3.3 liters and oil filter (OEM) is 0.3 liters...

So I guess your engine burned 1.3 liters and the only question is how many kilometers you passed...

If it's 5000-10.000 kilometers, it is VERY NORMAL and you shouldn't be worried about it... ALL HONDAS BURN A LITTLE OIL... and burning 1.3 liters in 5000-1000 km means that you are burning 1.3dcl - 2.6dcl per 1000km... that is NOT CONSIDERED AS EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING... it is NORMAL...

but if it is under 5000 km, then you should probably be worried a bit...

I have D16Y7 with 140.000km on the meter and it burns aprox. 1 liter of the oil per 7000 kilometers interval... I use Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 (full synthetic)... and I am not worried...

The filter capacity is 0.3-0.5 quarts depending on the size of the filter...

Do not spread MISINFORMATION!!!

dont worrie about it man. sometimes all the oil just doesnt come out. as long as u drive it for a month and check the dipstick...and its at correct level you are FINE. lol. and if you park it up hill or down hill the levels may read different too. lol

all hondas burn oil , but like everyone else said make regular checks on the dipstick and see if it drops at a fast rate and if it does u have a problem. if it drops slowly over the interchange period u should be ok. if u wanna check for a leak a good spot is the seal between the distributor and cam. my cx had a bad seal and leaked alot but afterchanged it was all good.

Even the large Toyo-Roki S2000 filter I have here only holds .344 liter, without accounting for the displacement of the filter media and valve components. I would assume it only holds .25 to .28 of a liter fully saturated. That would be 1/4 of a quart.

A D16 will retain about 1/2 quart in the cam valley and the internal oil passages. This should not factor into the drain quantity because this oil is accounted for at every change. He simply has a short fill from the last oil change, or his motor is consuming oil.

I hate to ask this but how many kilometers in a mile, or how many miles in a kilometer because the post below was good but I have no idea how to change it over to miles versus kilos.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by KKVTi &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">How many kilometers between oil changes?

1 mile equals 1.6 kilometers...

So 1000 miles would be 1600 kilometers... 5000 would be 8000 kilometers... you get the point...

I was writing in kilometers because the author was using LITRES in his first post so I assumed his car has a "kilometer cluster"

Cos if you use the expression "QUART" when reffering to quantity of the liquid, then you will also use MILES when measuring the distance... but if you use LITRES, then you probably use KILOMETERS... that simple... I haven't heard of a single country in the world that uses LITERS for liquid quantity and MILES for distance measure...

Ok that makes sense thank you. I figured you wouldnt use liters with miles but for me I use miles/quarts and that was real good info, just didnt know how to use it.
