Car Wont Move?

Car Wont Move?
I acquired a friends Civic that apparently has a blown clutch (don't know the story, I just know the car worked fine when I drove it a week ago). The gears all engage fine even when the car is running, the speedometer doesn't work in any gear, and jacked up the tires don't even make an attempt to spin. Both axles in nice and tight, and when I spin one tire it makes a grinding noise like a bad bearing the other tire doesn't move at all. The car has no problem rolling while in gear.
Is it the clutch or transmission? I'd think if it was the clutch the tires would still make some effort to move. I don't really want to put a lot of money into it, but I might be willing to throw in a used clutch if that's all it is.

Re: Car Wont Move?
I managed to do a clutch swap in an hour and half using air tools, and this was my first clutch job (I have done several transmission swaps though). If anyone is wondering whether they should do a clutch job, I would say it's about the same difficulty as changing your oil.

for me i find it easier to pull the motor and change it took me and a buddy and hour to pull the motor and change the clutch and be driving again rather than a all night job trying to do it with the motor in the car

I don't know, I didn't disconnect the hydraulic lines, linkages (which can be a pain sometimes), or any of the electrical, and I had tons of room to work.
