Default Car Security

I have a 95 civic hatchback si. I have an alarm and auto door lock and club. What are some things I can use to keep my car secure. Need something cheap not too expensive. Just give me some ideas of where to get the things also. Much appreciated. Also is there something i can remove from my car so that the motor will not start? something that is easy to take out and put back in.

i'm an installer at circuit city... and for a honda this is what i'd recommend. Get A Python 700 alarm. it will come with starter kill, door pins, trunk pins, and a shock sensor. For like 30 mins more of labor u can get a hood pin which is a must. You'll also want a proximity sensor and a backup battery. They can hook u up with all that at circuit city. it what i did to my car. pz

Yeah, hoodpins with locks are nice if you have a good alarm system. Though it's all a matter of time, the thief (if he wants the car bad enough) will probably break the hood or smash up the front end enough so he can get the hood open..but it'll take a bitch of a long time..and that's what you want.

Kinda useless w/o an alarm. Though you said you have an alarm. So if you have an alarm...upgrade your alarm. Put in like backup sirens and ****, hide backup sirens and backup power sources, 'tis is the way to go. I don't remember what's in the fusebox above the pedals but I don't think there's anything there that you can remove that'll stop the starting of the car....(I could be wrong, have to look at the fuse diagram to see what's in there).

Kill switches work nice too, probably one of the most effective methods is a hidden kill switch...to what is your choice. Fuel pump, starter, igniter, any of the things that are needed for your car to run. From there you just hide the switch.

Alarm system w/ broken glass sensors (forgot what they're called) and lock sensors (incase they use a slimjim or something of the sort to pop the lock). Hood pins with locks on them, backup siren, and a few kill switches might be enough for a thief to say "fuc k it."

Though given time a thief can usually get your car. Just a matter of time. Which he may or maynot have.

If you park in a parking garage, do what I do. Take the liberty of leaving a half hour early and make sure you park right in dead-aim of a security camera. Helps a lot. Though the camera can't track....but occasionally facial recognition is possible. Of course the majority of parking garages don't have cameras so blah ;(

Basically you can do everything and anything except pull your motor to make your car "unstealable" and some guy that swipes cars for a living (opposed to some 16 year old punk kid's 1st car) will get your car. Hopefully you can create as much deteruant as possible so either somebody sees him or he decides to say "screw it."

EDIT:
I Heard but never experienced that clutch locks are pretty good...and that they're usually hard to get undone. And of course if a thief can't work the clutch, he could have problems in terms of stealing the car.

well best thing would prolly be romoving the ECU, its not to much of a hassle but its going to suck to have the carry it around if your going to the mall or sumthing haha...or spend a little and get a detachable steering wheel...this two things should work...

I believe he meant hood pin as in a grounding circuit that triggers the alarm when the hood is opened. I have one on my car also and another on the trunk.

Go to the Audio/Video /Security section here on H-T. There is a DIY write up to do a fuel pump kill. If you need anymore ideas send me an IM and I will help you out.

sorry saw this right after i posted

the problem with a removable steering wheel is that a thief can just use their romovable steering wheel, but a kill switch or 3 and shaved door handles and a removed ecu should be enough, provided they dont use a tow truck

thats unnecessary
both doors & your trunk should already have pins hooked into the dome light

& those hood pin locks suck
u can just pull up on ur hood & it'll pop open

normal hood pins with an actual lock is better
or just dont use hood pins at all & use the stock latch

just reroute your hood cable

In the bay area I bet you could throw a rock and hit a shop that does all of those things and shine your shoes.

I am pretty sure you can remove any of the fuses in that black plastic box next to the battery and that will stop ur car from starting.

but I would just make a kill switch that controls your fuel pump since someone could decide to steal your car while they are watchign you get out and therefore would know exactly what you did to make it not work lol.

Find a reputable shop - or else they'll be jacking your car after shining your shoes too.

i installed my old Viper 790XV 2-way alarm in my sisters car 2 weeks before this happened. fuel & ignition cutoff with hidden 2nd battery. they cut the siren and cut the alarm wire to the battery, but the relays never budged. this is what you call frustration taken out on a steering column. sad thing is, the alarm DID notify her key fob, btu she had it on the keyrings by my back door and was sleeping. hood, shock and door sensors were active. she was without her car for a week getting it fixed...but i'd take that over some f*ckhead getting it anyday.
