broken power window on my civic...need help!
hi. i was rolling down my window on my 1998 civic EX, and then all of a sudden, it sounded like the window fell down the door. i dont know what that sound was, but now my window doesnt roll up. im pretty sure its not electrical because i can still hear the window motor when i try to roll the window up.
can anyone help me out??! i feel very unsafe with my car sitting outside with the window rolled all the way down.

not only are civics known for their rust, but also for their window tracks(rails). they tend to slide off the track sometimes. just take off your door panel and check to see if the window did come off the track.

window regulator...basically the track.
as far as how to take the door panel off, just look for screws. there's usually one hiding behind the handle, one down in the handle on the arm rest...then it's just clips all the way around. they usually feel like you're gonna break it, but pull harder, the clips will pop loose. if that doesn't help, get a haynes manual. best $20 you'll spend.

i didnt see any screws on the door or the handle, so im guessing its only the clips that are holding the door together. im a little scared of ripping the panel open because i feel like im going to break something - so before i do it, does anyone have a 96-98 civic that might be able to confirm that this is how i do it? THANKS.

found out that my regulator was broken. went to honda and had to dish out $183 for a new one because i could only by the regulator WITH the motor.
this was also a much harder task than expected. a lot of awkward angles to get the regulator in. i had to ask a friend to help me. i wouldnt recommend this to a beginner.

Re: (smooz EK)
I had to do that to my '99, apparently it's pretty common. The new regulator should be an updated design that is supposed to last longer, and Honda sells a dry silicone spray lubricant that you're supposed to use to keep it operating smoothly. I give the rubber track a light spray with the silicone lube every month or two and the windows go up/down really smoothly/easily, much better than before when I could hear the motor straining to slowly roll up the window.
