Default Better Exhaust Sounds

I have a 95 civic dx with a d15b7 in it. I put headers, catback, and an oem cat on my car. The exhaust note sounds real raspy and it sounds horrible. What can i do to make it sound great? No leaks or raspy sound

You only have one header. And yes, resonator will do the trick.

Oh yeah..the longer your resonator is the quiter your exhaust....so you should build your exhaust system with just resonators.

How do i do that, build an exhaust system that is all resonators? I thought a catback exhaust system come only with one resonator?

Haha..I'm just joking with you. Just buy the longest resonator that will fit your application. The longer the quiter it your system will be. Take it to an exhaust shop and tell them that you want the resonator in your system. Just have them make you a whole new exhaust system while your at it.

Well something that would be helpful is, what kind of catback are you running. If you have anything thats like a tanabe racing medallion, or a RS*R GTII, then its gonna be a loud, raspy exhaust.

Well, i have an HP Racing j Spec Catback, stock cat and Hp Racing headers, I keep getting this rasp sound when i push the clutch in, I thought it was the cat, but not sure. I want to achieve a normal non raspy sound and sound good.

It might be vibrations, my car does that, but my exhaust is super quiet. If its a can then its gonna be louder, I have a muffler and all that ****, so its quiet. But its just your engine winding down, for lack of a better word. It will happen to some extent no matter what exhaust you have.

i would say the stock cat is causing the raspyness and would recomend a hi flow cat (it will make it louder though)

my $0.02

When I had a Catback Mugen Twin loop on my hatch, i got a vibration from the pipe on the heatshield in the bend of the groove, for the exhaust. I noticed that only on a hatch you could remove the heatshield without worries. but on a coupe, there are fuel lines under the heatshield. I got that rattle everytime i put in the clutch when slowing down.

A stock cat does not affect the sound of an exhaust. If that were the case, then hondas would sound raspy from the factory.

Crush bent pipes, along with shitty mufflers and no resonators make an exhaust raspy.

Removing a stock cat will make the exhaust louder. Especially if you are running an aftermarket exhaust. You may gain a few hp or if your turbocharged, it will allow your turbo to spool up faster.

Most of the aftermarket exhausts I have heard make honda's sound raspy. I personally just ordered a Apexi World Sport II. This will be going on my d15 hatch before the b18c is installed.

Did you do any research as to how the exhaust you purchased would sound? Reference on other members cars.

Having no cat on a N/A car will sound shitty. Same goes for using crushed bent, flexible exhaust piping, and cheap exhaust piping.

well, i keep getting that raspy sound when i push the clutch in. It sounds like it comes from the cat or the resonator area.

Then you could have an exhaust leak or maybe just the choice of exhaust you put on your car like stated above.
