the b16bs had a little more aggressive cams in them than the b16a JDM motors. b16B is prolly your best bet.

good luck with the project.

The B16A2 was also used on 96-97 Del Sol VTEC.

I kind of like having a good variety of gizmos that are simple to get going thanks to OBD-2.

Stock to stock B16B, Most aggressive Stock Cam (bigger then ITR), better piston...and they are fairly new than most B16A out there.

but for the money of B16B..bleh i would go to B18C5/CR.. or get a jdm B16A 170p then mod the hell up.

its still 1600cc..or 1.6L displacement. dont expect a lot different..

I would also like to know how many people actually know what a B16b really is.

The B16B is available in the Civic Type R. It costs almost as much as a B18C5 (ITR). The best B16 stock is the B16B. But you can get an old B16A (OBD1) and convert it to OBD2 then it is a B16A2. If you get an old B16A and then gut it out, put new crank (ITR) new forged rods and piston and put a ITR head on, then you will have the best B16 out there. The ITR head doesn't fit on a GSR (B18C1) block. I blew my B16A2, bought a JDM B16A, had the shop convert it to OBD2 and will soon gut it out and have a blast. This way you can hit almost 500 whp running around 20 psi. Hope this helps.

Don't the b18c5 and the b16b share the same block and head, just the b16b has a differently setup bottom end(rods, crank, pistons) obiviously giving it the 1.6 liters. And of course everyone knows the cams are more aggressive.

Are the valvesprings the same or different??

Dude no offense but you said an ITR head wouldn't fit on a b18c block. That is very wrong, because it is easily done with any knowledge of honda b-series engines.

maybe u should read the rules again or for the 1st time

taken from https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=990205

- If you post technical info, but are not 100% sure about the info please say so. Too many people post "factual" info when it is in fact, NOT so. This is as bad or worse than any other violation of the rules. By simply stating "I'm not 100%, but I think..." you can save someone a lot of trouble if they are working on their car based on your info.

even my ******* gf knows u can put an itr head on a gsr block

Then please inform us. What kind of modification or any would you need to do? This is a forum. Enlighten us if you have succeeded. I was giving my 2 cents and apparently is worth just that. I have never seen it done and frankly over here in GA there are not as many shops as there are in Cali.

there are no mods needed to put it on and its an excellent upgrade. and most ppl that work on their cars dont go to shops, they do it themselves and save them money cuz shops rip u off
