Has anyone experience subframe failure on an EG using the Beaks kit? Or this an EK thing?

Good Q, i have only seen tearouts on the EK with the beaks, never an EG, so if someone can confirm this would be good.

Will told me there hasnt, but if anyones seen/knows of one first hand that would be real interesting

Put my mind to rest as i am currently rocking a JDM 23mm rear bar with beaks and low ish rear spring rates (5kg/mm) as the roads suck in the UK

If they do tear on EG's i am junking the setup and going for the Whiteline kit

I have seen it on both... you may just want to bump up your spring rates a litle bit.

I have yet to install everything but heres my setup on my EG:

-ITR rear LCAs
-Omni Power ITR Street Coilovers (10k/8k)
-ITR 22mm rear sway bar w/ ITR endlinks
-Beaks Products SRK-EG/DC - SUBFRAME REINFORCEMENT KIT

Am I okay with the Beaks, or should I ditch it and upgrade to the A-Spec piece? http://www.a-spec-racing.com/products.php

reinforcement... ha...
Propaganda I say.... It may help prolong life of your subframe a little, but I hardly would call a metal washer reinforcement....

Get a real kit, a-spec or comptech and kiss those worries goodbye, at least I would think so, never saw any reports of those two tearing, but just search,... beaks. it is full of complaints... this thread itself has stated that several times... Hence I will stop posting, its useless...

What is different about those than the beaks kit as far as keeping the subframe from ripping?

I know with the A-spec kit that not only does the reinforcement bolt on to the sub-frame at 6 different points but the sway bar/D brackets do not even attach to your sub-frame, they bolt to the reinforcment plate instead of the sub-frame...

here is another one that is just a little big to post...

I spy 6 bolts mounting the piece to the subframe. Am I right? Definately better than most kits, and it seems more bolts would equal less chance of ripping. Adjustable endlinks would be a plus also.

It has been adjusted and tightened up since then...

You mean there are people on h-t that not only make statements but also back them up with factual info. Wow! lol Thanks for the info, Jon V! Looks like a superior design to me.

Bump.

Has anyone purchased the kit from the A-spec website. Their contact information looks pretty shady...no phone, no address, only AIM, and a 2004 copyright on their website. wtf?

Where did you purchase your A-spec kits from? Post up please.

In all honesty, I would go with the ASR kit. My car felt better when I switched from Beaks to ASR. THe back end seems like it stays level more. Also, the ASR kit allows the endlinks to be more vertical, instead of slanted like with the Beaks kit.

bfong13: Dont be a weenie, and buy it from the ASpec guys and their site. Just email them and you do it through paypal. Their shipping time is awsome. Charleston is a great guy and I've met him in person. He's a standup guy and I would buy from them again.
