how is it a "HOOT" if its slower? the whole point of a swap is to go faster, and have as much HP possible. swapping engines isnt like changing tires, if your gonna do something, do it right the first time and not go back and say " oh i should have gotten a gsr".

whatever, i dont care anymore......get the b16 - it gives me one more person to beat at the track/street. </TD></TR></TABLE>

I don't think you will ever get it man. Go ahead, spend an extra grand just to go a couple tenths faster then me. I don't care. Drive the same car with all the different engine set ups.
The b16 is more fun because it revs like a dirtbike.

Sometimes, some people prefer the fun to drive factor over ***** out power. I like smooth power bands where the power doesnt fall off until 8k. As I said earlier, i went from a midly built lsvtec to a b16. The b16 is slower and I still like it more.

If i were you, that's what I would do. Ls longblocks around here are a dime a dozen. Rangin from $400-900 depending on year and such.

Perfect match would be b18b w/ LSD GSR tranny for budget.</TD></TR></TABLE>

been there, done that. not that impressed with it.

i see.. I was putting up my $0.02 for him becuase I kept reading that he was on a budget. Not everyone here can afford everything they want in less than a year.

save the extra $1000-$1500 and get the b16a instead of a gs-r. Use that money for your family or something...

B16A is a great motor. Very smooth and fun. Go with a that or B18c5. But either motor is going to feel slow unless you really drive it hard. Don't bother with a GSR swap IMO it's worth it paying a little extra for the R swap. Whichever you get, get that limited slip diff!

I've seen d16's smoke b18's too, any motor can be powerful.

Back to my point, yes it will be worth it, for the money you will have a lot of fun.

You won't be as quick as b18c1, but you won't be far behind at all.

For the $$$ it's a great motor. If you are on a budget, you won't regret it.
I have a first gen b16 in my EF civic and it's a blast to drive.

It's not all about track times for me, the car is quick and most of all it is just so much fun to whip around, and it loves to rev.

i say yeah its worth it, if you are on a budget. its fun to drive when you have the b16 in your car. and if later on you want to do something else like the lsvtech its easy, even beter crvtech b20 block w/ b16 head.

I got that same swap from HMO. The sir-ii swap.

Make sure you spend the extra $300 for an LSD tranny. Mine worked out to just about $3000 after the LSD tranny and shipping from Cali to Wisconsin.

Yes but with mounts, linkage/cables, axles, and extra time spent with the install it costs much more.
