Default B16 swap wireing harness

I plan on swaping a b16 into my 98 civic and I know the general rule of thumb is to use the stock harness and just add wires/ modify it to work on the new motor. However I want to ability to be able to swap it back to stock when needed so I was wondering if my best course of action would be to remove the stock harness along with the stock motor and when I install the new motor install it will the jdm b16 harness will this work what problems may I run into ?

Thanks
Brian

jdm harness will probably not work, if you want to give it a try go ahead. RHD vs LHD.....think about it.

Yeah actually I'm sure it won't work now that I thought about it. However I don't want to mess with the stock harness so when I decide to convert it back to stock I don't have to remove the changes i made in the first place. Would it be better just to get a yarn delsol harness that will work with a b16 so I can have one harness for the stock motor and one for the swap ?

The closest thing would be find a 96-98 EX engine harness and then wire in the secondary 02, that is unless you plan on going OBD1. However we have no idea what year and OBD your B16 will be?

You haven't given us all of the required information, but yes, a 96-98 EX harness will make life easier for you, if you don't have one already.

...and the trim of your Civic? We're being specific about the wiring harness in the car, so logical thought would tell you that that's the part we care about.

^ Exactly. Using the OBD1 engine will complicate a few things wiring wise.

Exactly... Your engine harness will have shock tower connectors on the wrong side, not to mention battery connections.

On mine, I tried to extend wires to the other side of the car, but it turned out to be a waste of time and the car refused to start. I ended up using a USDM/CDM B series harness and made minor modifications, which was way easier, even though I was mad at myself for having to run the wires with the engine in the car when the said engine was outside the car a few days before.
