b16 no power
A friend of mine has a b16 and he is getting no power until 6k. You can rev it to like 4k and drop the clutch and there is no wheel spin it doesn't go any ware until it gets to 6k. when it had a/c it barley drove with it on. The knock sensor was messed up so we changed that still same thing. Any ideas it seams like something electrical or could it be timing? Oh and it has a gsr ecu on it.

He should be able to spin the tires no matter what kinda car you're in. Hell i spun my tercel's tires. but the whole a/c thing is correct. its like once its one there is no power what-so-ever

Re: b16 no power (polishprinze)
peak power and torque is way above 6k so basically the engine does not produce great power in the area you trying. However the wheels should still spin slightly if you are dropping clutch. Maybe your clutch is slipping - if it has a problem it could be so many things, need more specifics.
p.s - try normal ecu

Wow....I know that my jdmb16 does not hit v-tec until 6rpm. I have a knock sensor code as well. It's all about the jdm b16. It's not american so things will be different. Is this a jdm motor? If he is not moving at all until 6rpm I think that's a little wierd. Throttle cable?

The B16 is one of Honda's most powerful engine so what some of you are implying is way off. I am thinking something is definitely wrong with this guy's car, might be timing, ECU, plugs etc.

i'm having the same problem.. i hit the gas anywhere before 6k and it feels like the car's pushing back on me. and i think the only reason we're not feeling it as much in vtec is because of the power change but it's still "hesitating" even while in vtec.

is it just me or does it seem odd for so many people to have this problem? has this problem just started for everyone just recently?this might sound really dumb but do u think the weather could cause this?

my motor was shipped from hmotors about a year ago to a friend of a friend that i bought it from. the problem occurred after a heavy rain not too long ago so i'm almost certain it's electrical. i have no splash guards so i'm positive my motor got wet.

i have a new cap/rotor/coil and plugs so if anyone experiences this problem and hasnt replaced these things it wouldnt hurt.. Although i've replaced mine and it still does it.. I'm going to replace the ICM in the dist. and go from there.. Then the O2 since the CEL reads 43 which i believe is O2

Re: (Flyingchopstick)
2 of my roommates have JDM B16s and neither one of them have had any problems like the ones that you describe. They have been swapped for about 2 or 3 years now with no issues. They have plenty of power and have always been able to spin the tires even with Z rated tires. Sounds like you all have a common issuse you did wrong in the swap or something of that nature.

Yeah- ranking right below just about every DOHC Honda motor (i.e. except the ZC) B, H, F, C, and K series. And also ranking just above the D-series.
Anyway, for the original thread starter: What happens when you rev the motor to 4-5k and drop the clutch? Do your RPMs shoot down? Does the car move?

Take that **** somewhere else, noob. I was able to spin tire with my old 90whp DX launching at 4k. Granted, the B16 isn't very impressive when it comes to stock torque or power, but your "Just the way it is" comment is just ignorant and uncalled for. If it was meant to be a funny joke, well you're around five years late with that one.

What exactly are the CELs? Maybe you should not be dropping the clutch and such or running the car at all untill you have all of them cleared out you could be making things worse depending on what the issues are.
