Automatic tranny question (might be a dumb one)
i'm familiar with honda manual transmissions but not automatics which is why i'm posting this question. in a 96 civic, does the shifter have a solid linkage to the transmission or does it use a flexible cable linkage?? if it's a solid linkage, what years (if any) use a cable linkage??

Re: Automatic tranny question (mattyv)
haha, let me clarify my situation. i'm looking to buy a porsche 914 as a project car and would like to put a JDM (preferably honda) transverse mounted I4 into it, so i'm wondering if i would be able to use one with an AT to simplify shift linkage. and i currently don't have access to a car for that type of inspection

Its a cable linkage, but I hardly think that will help simplify your project. Why not use an F,H or K series engine and manual transmission? all use a cable linkage so you can put the shifter pretty well anywhere and then you don't have to wire up an automatic transmission
