When I first got the vehicle, there was always a yellow-wired relay hitting my feet by the fuse box. I eventually, when doing an alarm install, pulled the steering column cover and realized it was a DEI alarm starter-kill relay. It was still wired into my starter wire with a yellow butt connector or two, so I pulled those off and soldered/taped it together. I later found the holes in my engine bay where the siren was mounted. Generic nonstealth install of course. >_>

I always had odd issues but never a CEL. (You guessed it.) I bought a ScanGauge eventually and started playing with the features, one of which is a CEL code scanner. "ECT sensor" code was thrown, I was like ... but I have no CEL? The entire CEL socket was removed, not just the bulb, so I traded having a "trunk popped" light for having a check engine light.

Also something I've been curious of: I carfax'd my car and it failed emissions once, passed about 100 miles later. I think that may have been when the previous owner put on that 4 inch muffler (removed since).

Also some reason an engine accessory belt (alternator?) ate my CKF sensor wires, which threw P1337 for a while 'til I taped it together one night. Why were these wires exposed to the belt anyway? I have no idea what the previous owner had in mind there.

At least they used a radio installation harness instead of slicing and taping. :-)

EDIT: I almost forgot: I had a cooling issue (could never reach operating temp), and pulled the thermostat recently. Know how the thermostat is a circular plate with a spring coming out? ... Yeah, no spring, just a plate with a hole in it.

I'm under the impression there's a thermostat spring floating around in my block.

Which car do you wanna hear about first lol. The Eg hatch, the Integra, the Crx or eg coupe lol. My crx had a Diy sunroof where the idiots cut it out with a jigsaw and put in a piece of plexiglass for the sunroof. If it was raining outside, yea it was still raining inside, I had to peel the old roof off and through an si roof on instead. My seats were mounted backwards, (pass on driver, driver on pass). New holes for the seats and everything, they werent anything special but some old ripped up dx seats. Holes in the dash where a tach used to be, I mean really how fast were you really going in the dx? and two strips of velcro across the pass side of the dash im guessing for a big pimpin screen. The back window is only half way tented and I think they put the back end of my exhaust together with jb welds. The cd player was wired straight to the batter with a switch and a fuse, lol. My eg hatch had a d16z6, the guy didnt know that I had previous done vtec swaps (b16)(d15b)(d16z) swaps before and tried telling me the vtec was hooked up lol. The day I got home I pointed out the check engine light that was on for the vtec solnoid, I returned the **** that he made him self and was refunded 200 bucks for his stupid lies. My DC Well the back tire was repaired with jb welds, which popped a day later on the interstate, the original cloth seats were replaced with black mismatching torn to **** gsr seats. The spoiler was remounted in the back of the car in order to hang off the back a bit, and the entire wire harness in the bay was redone because it was chewed through by a stupid rabbit. My Eg coupe has a rip on the pass side of the engine bay right behind where the intake sits and right below the strut... To this day it utterly blows my mind how this could happen, man I need to post pics of that. It looks as if someone hit it with an axe from the wheel well side? The back half of the muffler was gone, im almost guessing stolen?

Lol I just seen this, they welded it to your gas tank? I thought it was bad when the welded my flanges together at my downpipe, that muffler shop def didnt get paid, and I recently drove by there and I think they were shut down. Anyways, who ever did that is lucky they are still alive, and your lucky your car is still alive lol.

I bought my 92 SUPER DX (no factory radio, no PS, no AC, no Cig lighter) in 2004 from an older gentleman who bought the car from the dealership in 1992, and since had every service including oil changes done at the same dearship. The car came with a 5inch binder full of previous service records. The best part about the car, with all the might of the 95 HP D15B7, the old guy found is necessary to mount a hidden hitch with a 2 inch ball to the rear of the car, to haul around firewood to his family and friends, to this day i would kill to see that deed being done

Lets see where to start. I purchased my 95 si about a year ago and I keep finding **** wrong with it. Well first off it had a bad intake valve, before it got worse I hydrolocked it and f-ed it up real good so i did a d16y8 swap. When doing the swap i realize the ecu harness was jacked up really bad, next i found out there wasn't brake fluid in the clutch line but something that lookde like rusty water. Next I found out that the cat was bolted to the header with 1 bolt ad it was leaking bad. And most recently I found out that instead of buying lowerin springs, the previous owner heated the springs with a torch while stil on the struts and the whole asembly was rusty as hell and ready to break so i replaced them with k sport coilovers. Well thats the major things that i found.

No terrible horror stories like some of you guys. Just some random holes drilled, and a very stupid interior. Teal 95 civic ex with yellow dashboard accents. They taped off the door panels and spraypainted "Honda V-tec" in yellow. I kinda liked it so I kept it. (kidding!)

Owner had a pile of sunflower seed shells right under the seat. Like I mean a PILE like a hill of them. When I got the car I noticed it smelled like Morton salt lol. That brake thing about it being one side was different from the other is just plain sad...

93 sol had the rear lower control arms backwards, they are marked R and L but I guess the previous owner didn't read.

My eg hatch.. well nothing real major.

Found a huge wrench, about a foot and half long under the seat when I first got it.
Auto ECU when they swapped the z6 into it. Still looking for a manual
Said it had 4 cel's when it only has 2, and those aren't even the same as what he told me.

Nothin real major. Haha I love the electric "turbo" post ^

Those are some funny stories...I got one. (not the previous owner's fault entirely, I'm pretty much convinced he just doesn't know much about cars) Traded my 94 accord for a 92 hatch with a gsr swap...100k miles on the car, told about 60k on motor. ITR trans, GC coilovers, rsr exhaust, and a bad tie rod. Turned out the GC coilovers were actually stock heated springs on crap ebay sleeves, the upper ball joint was finger loose on the passenger side, and the header was cracked in 4 different places (not just the one place you could see from standing ontop of the engine bay). The bad tie rod turned out to be a bad steering rack, the exhaust was welded to the mid pipe and the axle back was also welded instead of bolted to the rest of the exhaust. Syrupy trans fluid was making 3rd grind as well (changed fluid with oem Honda stuff with friction mods and that cleared it up almost instantly). trashed the rack all the struts, springs, header, upper control arms and tires were ****ed (he told me they weren't that bad...so replaced them as well. Overall, it was my bad because i didn't check out the car as completely as I should have, but the guy definately wasn't honest with me. And by the end of this rant, I'm sure you guys from the WI area know whom I'm talking about.

Bought a B16 swapped civic from a friend..was an auto to manual conversion
-Took the center console out for cleaning, and notices the extra space by the shifter was covered with a mountain dew can that had been cut and laid flat and welded to the floor
-Front suspension was making a clunking noise, put it on a lift and noticed the right front sway bar bushing was missing
-Took the header off and found the header to block gasket was made with duct tape
-Exhaust hangers were made ith twisted wire clothes hangers

(A while ago I'd posted about an overheating issue and got a half dozen suggestions for possible problems. Turns out it was all of the above, all at once!) So I dropped it off at a mechanic, thinking it was the CV joints. They gave me a call saying that it was a problem with the brakes and they wanted permission to do a complete brake job since the rotors were worn, a wheel cylinder was leaking at the back, etc. So I authorize the repair. A couple hours later, they call back saying that the parts they ordered didn't fit.

Turns out the Civic had DX brakes on one side and EX brakes on the other. Seems the car had been in a bit of a fender bender and the previous owner fixed the suspension with parts out of the first Civic he found at the junkyard, and overlooked that he was installing rotors that were nearly an inch smaller than the ones on the car to start with. Amazingly, it didn't pull to one side with such a mismatch.

It's back to the EX brakes that it should have now. Anyone else got stories of finding out their Honda had mismatched parts or really bad repair techniques?
Lol...How did no one notice that?

bought a 93 accord. opened the airbox to check the air filter and only half an air filter was in it. the other half was in the intake manifold right behind the throttle plate.

on my old d15 transmission. i stripped the mount holes out, so i tapped them out to spark plug thread and used spark plugs with the tops ground off for bolts.

hope whoever ends up that that transmission notices
