antifreeze everywhere
Hey guys here's the deal, I repalced my therm last week and everything has been fine, temp good and hot heat. This morning in Pa. it was about 7 degrees out. I went to start my em1 and it stalled. I started again and it stayed running. Upon warming up I heard an odd lite squael sound. (never heard it before). I began to drive my car and noticed that the gauge was normal but I had absolutley NO HEAT. I drove further and still no heat. The needle then went up to H and dropped beck to normal. still no heat. It then went back to H and stayed there. As I was driving I noticed water freezing on my windshield so I pulled into a lot and opened my hood, antifreeze was everywhere. Could I have spun the bearings in the water pump? Car has almost 65k on it. What should I do? Its close to a pep boys which I would rather avoid.

Find the leak first...
If no heat cheack the heater hoses maybe the heater valve too. See if a hose burst or the valve broke.
Its hard to say anything until you find where the leak is coming from.

I dont know why it would burst all of the sudden but clean your engine bay and search for the hose. my hose had a nasty cut on it randomly and i had antifreeze gushing everywhere. the hose is inexpensive and you can install it yourself.

Re: (mikeycivic)
The plastic tank on my radiator cracked and sprayed coolant everywhere. It was small enough that I couldn't even find it until I saw some air bubbles

Re: antifreeze everywhere (mikeycivic)
More than likely the collant was either frozen or the "new" thermostat is bad or stuck. Did you put a 50/50 mix of antifreeze back in? Or an air bubble in the coolant system. Did you properly "burp" the system after the thermostat install.
To properly "burp" the air, first open the ait bleed screw (next to where the upper radiator hose goes in the block). Fill the system till coolant comes out of the bleed screw. Close the blled screw, set the heater control to "hot" but do not turn on the blower/fan. Crabk the engine and let it run with the radiator cap off till the radiator fanb cycles on twice. Top off the radiator and fill the over flow to slightly above the full hot line.
