FIrst off R134a systems DO NOT like to be overcharged. When that happens they blow seals. To truly figour out where the **** is going is to put some dye in it and have someplace reputible fill it back up. Also, if it jsut randomly stops working as well, do you hear the compressor kicking on? If you do then it could definately be a waterpump or thermostat issue.

Think of it like the human body starving. IT shuts down things that aren't nessecary to keep it running. In regards to the A/C shutting down, that is due to the fact it is probally leaking coolant somewhere and overheating somewhat

</TD></TR></TABLE> omg lol. We are talking about engines. So you are saying that if I have a system thats taking up all the battery, my car will just shut everything off????

Please think about what you are saying and go read your autoshop book ( electrical system chapter)

Have you checked the wiring in the HVAC unit? Sometimes even if the light is on when you press the AC switch, if the wiring is bad, it won't turn on the ac clutch.
