Default 99 front end on a 92 eg sedan

my friend has a 99 coupe, but he asked me if i wouldswap him my eg front end for his 99 front end. my question is how hard would this be to do? (he knows how to swap it onto his car) im still new to imports.. well hondas.. so how tough, i know im going to need a welder.. but will i have to drill new holes for the re-bar,fenders,hood?

More work than its worth. The radiator supports will need to be taken off both cars and rewelded back on. Not even sure if the fenders and hood will all match up right either. If he wants the old style just trade cars. A 99 would look rediculous with a 92 front on it. Tell him to give me his 99 front. I'll take it off his hands.

why dont you guys just trade cars.
everything that i have seen you will need to cut the eg fender and ek and weld them togther.

its alot more then its worth.

well he's the one that would be doing all the removing lol i can fit everything back together but im guessing he's got his hands on a welder also lol. i like the 99 front end style and personally think it would look nice with it on but just thought i'd see if anyone has done it before or got some pictures they could show me

before you decide to do this, think of this. Pick any unattainable celebrity that you'd give your right nut to be with. You get the chance to be with her BUT she just got major reconstructive surgery and looks nothing like she did before. Now her eyes are uneven, her cheeks don't line up and people are disgusted by it. Would you still hit it? yeah, it's kinda like that.

Well.. eg front end is kinda similar to a del sol
and i can tell you it was a bit tough.. if you know how to weld.. and use bondo
should be farely easy...
but here are some pix.. you can ask questions too if you want

CC is alright..
i still have more work to do on the fenders.. n rust.. but you get the idea

Yes the hood is propped on purpose!...

holy! did you even sand that filler? Sorry but that looks horrible. Get out there and keep sanding. Use a block too.

see that looks really good man even if its still a WIP.

did you reverse hinge your hood? i've never seen anything like that.. back end comes up but front stays down???

also, i never asked for people to say dont do it or its rice or whatever. if you dont have it done or have anything positive to say about it dont post here plain and simple.

he shimmed the hinges on the hood, you do this for clearance issues, or just to look really "cool"

just for arguments sake, i wasnt tryin to flame that dudes del sol... just givin my opinion, its your car and you can do what you want to it. just wanted to clear that up before anyone got fussy. i do really love the wheels on it though

and to OP in my opinion i would just leave the front end alone, its not *that* ugly lol...

Well thanks for the comments and the other comments to...lol

Uh.. well i did it because up front in person it dont look at that bad.. actualy
some people that smashed on me before i did it.. like it now..
but.. i guess its to everyones own right?
I did not reverse the hinges.. because i wanted a stock look i have.. springs on the end so it lifts up the back.. if i took them off the hood would look stock actualy
and ths is just a temp... hood i have a Cf that will go on once painted.. for now.. its gonna stay like that..
I need to finish sanding.. like i said on the fenders..
it is still a work in progress.. my car was junk when i bought it.. had a crashed front end.. and i did it because i was gonna buy.. del sol parts anyway... and spend just about the same.. so i decided. to do this.. i like it to tell you the truth no body kit.. just lip kit.. and i dont think its rice at all

and the bumper in these pictures.. was just.. zip tied on.. thats why thers a gap in the front from the hood but you guys get the idea..

tell you what its about: 20+ hours into it already.. so if you dont like body work gtfo and dont do it lol .. or if you arnt a person that.. dont finish work because you get bored.. then this front end stuff is not for you i had all winter long to do this.. and put maybe an a few hours there and here.. so... i did not get bored..

and again, wasnt bashing you, if you like it then thats all that really matters right? some people wont agree with some of the stuff ill do with my cars, but im the one that drives them everyday but constructive criticism is always welcome. but hope your del sol turns out well for you

Getting that 99 front end on an EG must be really tough but i'd like to see it on a sedan, and the EG front end on a 99 would be cool to see as well.

That Del Sol looks like crap. Front end swaps between chassis is just plain dumb, looks like crap, and is a waste of time and money. The EK front end is way too long for a EG or Del Sol and EG is too short for a EK. IF you want a EK front end buy a damn EK.

I would much rather see some ricatastic Civic with a body kit than a pissy front end conversion.

who did this conversion?? because i am doing mine as we speak lol i need help because the car im working on is a crashed car but i am trying to make this a long project anyways but i just need some help

i have already started my 2000 honda civic SI conversion on a 96 honda del sol and i stumbled on some problems.. the radiator support is gonna be a little misaligned due to the fact that the car has been crashed. the main problem to me is the hood hinges, the original ones seem to be bent so i ended up purchasing ones from a 92-93 honda civic.. appearently they werent helping at all either still needs mods.. does anyone know if they modified the del sol hood hinges or is it a direct bolt on? and has anyone tried other hinges to fit the 2000 si hood?
