99 Civic White flakes In Coolant?
After I got my car back from the shop I notice that my coolant can was empty but there was coolant in the radiator. So I filled up the can with coolant, then I just topped off the radiator with not even a few spoonful and I notice some white flakes or white little small peices of gunk float to the top. I'm wondering wat the hell that stuff is, a few days later I check the can again and its empty. But when I topped of the radiator like I did before I still see white flakes/white gunk O.o. Weird thing is my radiator cap has no white stuff on it, seem like it that white stuff floats to the top when I start to pour coolant into the radiator. Hard to explain they just look like little tiny pieces of Styrofoam. If it matters the engine is a b18c gsr.

One more thing it doesn't look like anything is mixing in with the coolant, cause the coolant still lookings green just those little piece floating around.

what kind of coolant are you filling with it. IF it is not pre-mix you should mix it only with distilled water, not tap water. If someone had done this in the past it could just be a bit of calcium or other minerals that solidified. I have very hard water where I live and I white things floating around every time I boil the water.

prestone pre-mix, when I took the oil cap off I didn't see anything white on it. When I pulled out my dip stick the oil was a little black but nothing coming close for it looking milky white.

when was the last time you gave it a flush? Stuff does get in there once in a while.

true but if there isn't coolant on the dip stick or when I look inside my oil cap there shouldn't be any coolant in the motor, can there?

Oil and water don't actually mix. After sitting there the coolant should sink to the bottom. After driving is when you see that chocolate milkshake substance stuff. Could also be going right out your exhaust, are you blowing a lot of white smoke out your tail, does you exhaust smell sweet?
