That's nothing. Around here sometimes people bump four year old threads to say how much they like a car posted in the first post.
Oh, and I have been keeping a list of US EM1 VINs and so far almost all of them are clean titled.

Wow old thread.
I'm so over EM1s. You can make an EJ8 EX better in every way for less money: for 3.5K, you can gsr swap, throw in teg seats, Si wheels, a swaybar, and lower it. The EX would still cost less than the EM1, perform better, and be less likely to get stolen.
Maybe owning one makes me biased, but my vote's for EJ8.

I just think the EM1 looks better, but you could make the EJ8 look just like an Si. Major difference is the motor. People who want to save $ and mod do the D. That's that.

Just saying you own an SI is better than saying an EX converted to an SI...imo
you just have a better platform to start off with than a single cam. the exterior, interior, gauges, wheels, suspension of an SI is much nicer.
I LOVE MY EM1

I suppose I never really thought of 195/55-15s as low profile. I always thought of them as just normal.
As for the lip, many people choose to go with a different front lip.
Exterior (alloy wheels, mesh grille, quarter panel stickers, standard front lip, standard exhaust finisher), interior (amber lighting, leather shift **** instead of vinyl one, leather shift boot instead of pleather one, holes in the headrests), gauges (amber lighting, Si logo), wheels (alloy ones), suspension (201F/99.8R instead of 165F/80R)... It's not really all that different.
I'm not saying they're exactly the same, but some people are really making the Si out to be something it's not.
I love my EJ8. I love my EX coupe more than most people would understand.
Oh, and this is my second red EX coupe.

Re: 99-00 Honda Civic EX or SI
I just don't get all the back and forth about the value of the additional parts on the Si.
"It would cost a lot to turn an EX into an Si."
Who says anyone is trying to turn an EX into an Si? That's up there with converting your Civic DX into the obviously superior Civic HX. *rolls eyes*
I don't want Si wheels. I think they're ugly.
I don't want a B16A. I think they're slow.
I don't want stickers on my quarter panels.
I don't want a '99-'00 front end or front lip.
I don't want an Si.
Why would I build my car into a car I don't want?
Therefore I don't ever have to worry about "all the money I saved" by buying an Si to begin with. Most of those parts that make the Si unique would come off and get replaced anyway.
If I were to ever own an Si I already have plans for it. The car would have to be low mileage and have a clean title. I'd want one for the best deal still, of course. I'd fix anything broken on it and bring it up to date on maintenance. Then I'd put a cover on it, pull the battery, and sit it in a garage. It'd go for a drive every few months to keep it in good condition, but the car would stay totally stock. It would be merely a collector's car.
