Default 99-00 Civic SI B16a2 in a 95 Civic EG????

I tried to search before i posted but im going to buy an OBD-2b B16a2 motor from a 2000 Civic SI and put it in my 95 Civic hatchback. The question i have is inorder to stay OBD-1 what do i have to change?..I have a Kenji chipped ECU and im going to have it rechipped for a B16 N/A setup but what else do i need, do i need to change the distributor to an OBD-1 one?..If i can get some expertise from some of you guys i would appreciate it.

that along with your alternator wiring. Maybe the injectors as well, can't quite remember. Depending on your EG trim model add the extra sensors...

The alternator plug is different. The distributor can easily be rewired...or you can get a conversion harness. The rewiring only requires the auxillary wiring of 2 of the wires. The OBD1 distributor has that little 2 pin subharness hanging off the distirbutor wiring. The OBD2 does not.

The wire colors should be black/yellow and blue, IIRC. You just find those two wires on the OBD2 distributor plug and solder them in. Put them on a connector for quick disconnects.

You will need OBD1 injectors.

The driver's side top mount and rear T bracket will need to be sourced from a DC2/DB8/EG6.

Since you live in chicago...I have to ask. Where did you get this EM1's engine from??

So all i need to do is:
1.Change alt. to OBD-1
2.Get Distributor adapters from OBD-2 to OBD-1 or the opposite??
3.OBD-1 injectors
4.OBD-1 ECU

Is this correct??

You can actually take your SOHC alternator's voltage regulator out and put it inside the B16A2's alternator - this will "convert" the plug to the OBD1 that you need.

Injectors?

You can keep the Si injectors and rewire them, or use the 1995 Civic injectors.

The distributor?

I used to have my own detailed pic-intensive write-up on how to rewire it, but We-Todd's server lost the pics.

Basically if you compare the two distributors the OBD1 dizzy has two plugs, and the OBD2 has one big plug. Look to the two fat wires on the bottom of the big plug - notice they are the same color as the two wires on the two-wire extra plug on the OBD1 dizzy. The colors are black/yellow, and blue.

Simply push the two wires back through the big OBD2 plug, and then you can cut the two wire plug off of your SOHC dizzy (or better yet find a junk one to cut the plug off) and then soldier the wires together, colors matching, and you have just n"converted" the one plug OBD2 into the two plug OBD1 style.

Something else I don't see is the IAT wiring. OBD1 engines have the IAT sensor in the second runner on the intake manifold, but the 99-00 Si has it located in the actual intake tubing itself. I installed a 99-00 AEM CAI in my wife's B16A2-powered 1992 Si HB and extended the wires on the OBD1 harness's IAT plug and it worked perfectly.

Hey guys you want to put the pitchforks down?

I have an ITR swap, I've owned a B16A2 swap, a B18C1 swap, and also a B18B swap, and i live in theft-prone ATL area of GA. Is it fair to assume any of my swaps were stolen?

This isn't a for sale topic that requires VIN/serial numbers, so let's try to keep the topic on topic, thanks.

BTW if the hatch is a DX or CX you'll need to wire up VTEC.

If it's a CX then you'll also need to convert the 1 wire o2 plug to the 4-wire o2 plug.

Exactly what are you working with here?

If you have the clips for the injectors and the alternator you can wire it yourself very easy the alternator clip is different but the wires are the same color and in the same position. The Dizzy is a little more Tricky But can be done if you search the forums.

If not the conversion clip is made by MSD its about 39.99 to 45 depending where you get it from.

Mounts:

Timing side steel/iron bracket that bolts to the block - 94-01 Integra 5 speed
Timing side mount itself - 94-01 Integra or Civic if it's already the aluminum one

Rear t bracket - 94-01 Integra
Rear mount - stock Civic or 94-01 Integra

Topside tranny bracket/mount - stock Civic or 94-01 Integra
Front tranny bracket (held in with three bolts) - 94-01 Integra - 99-00 Si might work too, not sure

A/C bracket - 94-97 Del Sol VTEC if keeping A/C; 94-01 Integra if no a/c

Front horseshoe mounts that bolt to undersides of frame rails - stock Civic

Anyone else have any imput on the mounts and brackets??

One guy said this: The mounts you will need are from an integra or you can even use the OEM civic mounts. The rear trans bracket that looks like a T needs to be from an integra, as well as the front lower trans mount (connects to the under side of the frame). To retain A/C you will need the A/C bracket from a Del Sol Vtec which is 100.00 off of ebay. And you will need the shift linkage from an integra.

i just did the swap the other day. if you have a 99-00 b16 this is what you need.
1.96-01 gsr or ls harness
2.obd-1 gsr(p72) ecu, b16(p30), or a chipped p28
3.complete swap from si including axles, shift linkage.
4.94-01 rear L bracket or t bracket or rear tranny mount.

the obd2 harness witll plug in directly to all the sensors on the motor and directly to the plugs on the shock towers. if you are swapping in a 92 cx you can use the driver side mount and it will bolt up directlyto the stock 99-00 b16 mount on the engine. for the tranny mount just use your stock d15. for the o2 wiring, yes it is originally 1 wire but it is already prewired for 4 wire o2 sensor. if you are running a LS harness then you will need to wire vtec. if you are using a gsr harness then you dont have to wire up the vtec, vtec wiring should already be wired from the ecu to the passenger side shock tower

I too know about the old 96-01 Integra engine harness trick, but figured it would only muddy an already unclear topic with more confusion.
