no cel, starter cranks, fuses good, all instrument panel lights work correctly, wires from ecm to icm test good, still NO SPARK. I'm at a complete loss here. ANY help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

thanks for the reply. i did check fuses under hood and dash and all are good. grounds are good at thermostat housing, tranny, and valve cover. >.<

the only thing i can think of is the ecu then, unless the coil inside the dizzy is bad. that happened to me. ran, turned it off and tried to start and it wouldn't. i replaced the dizzy still didn't work. then for some reason i replaced just the coil and it started right up. god knows why.

yeah i've had strange things happen to me as well over the years, but i've tried two different coils already as well. this is truly driving me nuts. i don't want her to have to spend much more money. i have not replaced distributor cap, as i've never in my experience seen a bad cap and rotor not deliver any spark at all, just weak.

Is 15A dash fuse 9 blown?
Does the Blk/Yel wire inside the distributor get battery voltage?
Does the fuel pump prime?
Is the timing belt broken?

rotor turns so needless to say, cam is turning. blk/yel wire has battery voltage, fuse 9 is good, fuel pump is indeed priming, in fact had to disable fuel delivery while trying to get spark to avoid flooding. thanks for the reply.

Did you check the Yel/Grn wire for a short? With the key in ON(II), does the Yel/Grn wire attached to the ICM have voltage? Does the Wht/Blu wire have battery voltage? Has the ICM been tested?

checked for continuity between ecm connector and yel/grn wire at dizzy plug, and there was continuity, and no continuity to ground, although haven't checked it for voltage. battery voltage on wht/blu wire. all icm's i've tried have been tested good. thanks for making sure i've covered all my bases.

Do the three distributor sensors have resistance in the normal range?
If the Yel/Grn wire has voltage, as I presume it will, then it's time to swap in a known good ECU, as already mentioned.

ok. i'll check that, and i'll also try to find a known good ecu. can i use one from a manual car even though it's auto?

Could also be that a component of the distributor itself is toast...if all else fails, replace the whole distributor and ecu (though that could get expensive >.< )

This is an old thread. Create your own thread and provide details about your car and what you have done so far.
