98 Civic LX broken speedo & odometer
Hey all,
I have a 98 LX Sedan with an auto that I purchased not too long ago to use as a daily driver. I don't know way too much about Hondas so I'm trying to get some help with a problem that I've had now for a couple weeks so far.
My speedometer has been acting up. It tends to stick at 20mph and when I am almost coming to a complete stop I can see the speedo needle flicker around the 20mph mark. Sometimes when I am driving it will go from being stuck at 20 and jump to the correct speed and work again for a while. Basically it is pretty much always stuck at 20mph and it will function properly again at random times for short periods.
I also noticed that occasionally the odometer would also stop. Every once in a while if I repeatedly hit the trip odometer reset, everything will work again for a short period of time.
Does anyone know what is the cause of these problems? The car's got just under 130k.
Thanks,
Brandon

Re: 98 Civic LX broken speedo & odometer
i had the same problem with my civic,
and i was told to check my transmission sensor i might be bad, but i looked around my fuses and my relay fuse was blown, changed it up n everything is working fine.
so i would say check your fuses before anything..

Thanks. Do you recall which fuse? Because I tried to do some research online a little while back where the mentioned a a specific fuse to check and I did check it and it was fine.

I just checked fuse 15 again which I believe is the same one I checked a while back and it's fine. Can anyone else shed any light?

my relay fuse was 7.5
underneth the steering wheel,
and if you have that little chart of which fuse is for what would make it easy,
or you could check them all one by one
if its not that..
then your transmission sensor might be bad or the wiring of it is shortage.
thats all i know that would cause that problem with cluster..
hope you get it fixed man
