yea it can suck but if you do it right the first time you have no problems bard and smogged my gsr in my eg earlier this year and have no probs now

Agreed it should have been done right.!. And CA smogg laws suckass...But im happy which my car and motor...any advice on upgrades beside(swapping my motor)lol.

No swapping the a6 head will not solve you problem. The problem is that the block is JDM and I figured you had your old motor so you could just put the ZC head on your old block and not have an issue with the smog station.

I have the same motor in my 2000 EK. Now from what I see if you want to get it to pass smog is to convert to ODB2 and hope they dont check the motor stamp. Mine already had smog done before I bought it. I took it to my usual smog guy and the only reason he said it didnt pass was because he couldnt read ODB2. Didnt say anything about the motor stamp or anything about the swap. I have had 3 different cars with JDM motors without any issue or problems of motor stamp look up. Its really unfortunate when I hear all the different guys saying that techs are looking up motor codes to see if they are valid swaps or not. And yes I am in CA.
