Default 97 Civic VTEC to NON VTEC swap

Hi, I just bought a 97 Civic EX coupe automatic that has a bad engine. I can get a non-vtec engine with 30k for $250 that I want to put in for now to get me by. Will this be hard to change over? And what will I need to change? If anything. Thanks in advance.

What's bad about the motor? is it possible that you could do the swap, but retain the vtec head? mini me swap?

Its got a blown head gasket and 240k. I never heard it run and dont want to replace the head gasket, get the head resurfaced etc on a 240k engine. I just want to get it running cheap. And a 30k engine for $250 sounds good to me for now.

Very true. Keep an eye out on a head so you could do a mini me in the future. You should be able to retain your axles and all your mounts will work unless you want to replace them just in case. I'm not sure about your ECU, but I'm sure someone else can answer that question. And your Tranny it should just bolt right up.
