97 civic motor swap help
I have a 97 civic lx with a d16y7 motor that is broke. I have purchased a jdm zc sohc non-vtec engine to replace it. I have swapped the exhaust, intake manifolds and the distributor with no issues. It looks like the zc engine does not have the crank position sensor that the d16y7 has, this is mounted in the timing belt housing on the d16y7. I have read that this can be bypassed by the following http://technet.ff-squad.com/ckftrick.htm.
Is this the only solution or can I do anything else to get around the crank sensor issue?

Re: 97 civic motor swap help
After doing this mod the engine will start ok, but the idle is surging not steady. The engine runs fine at higher rpms but then back to surging at idle. We do not get any code's at this time.
