Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
ok well i took out some of the plastic panelling in the hatch area, i checked the wiring between c572 and c574 and everything looks fine.
i dont think there is a problem at the fuse panel area since the driver side lighting works.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
ok im starting to get a little annoyed here..i've checked the entire section of wiring in the tailgate area and there is nothing wrong. none of the connectors look messed up at all, so i think my wiring problem may lay deeper into the cabin of the car...which makes no since how a wire can get frayed all of a sudden.

Try a different continuity test to look for a broken Red/Blk wire. Remove all rear taillight/parking bulbs on the fuse 19 (Red/Blk wire) circuit. In pairwise tests, you should measure continuity between any pair of receptacles on the Red/Blk wire terminals. If not, you have found a broken wire.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
i just double checked the sockets right now and ALL of the sockets are reading 0... i guess i was doing it wrong before.
**** nothing works, i even got a little desperate and connected the red/blk wire coming from the combo switch, directly to the red/blk wire AFTER the fuse panel and it still wasnt working.
as of right now, the only lights that work on the car are the head lights, high beams, brake lights, and reverse lights.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
since NONE of the running lights are working, should i check the combo switch? no wiring has been messed with to cause any mishaps.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
something weird just happened...i cut the blk/red wire both before and after the fuse panel...i put in a fuse to the #19 slot and now my driverside running lights work both front and back. passenger side still doesnt work for whatever reason.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
i cut the wire to see if maybe the problem was in the fuse panel itself...but the weird thing is now that i have cut the wire before and after the fuse panel, all the running lights work now...
for some strange reason, my RPM's, clock, and speakers arent working..

Do the dash lights work?
With respect to the fuse 19 circuit, there are only Red/Blk wires after the fuse box, so you must have cut the Red/Blk wire in two different locations after the fuse box. In the diagram below showing the fuse 19 circuit, I marked in red the specific Red/Blk wire you may have cut twice based on components not currently work. Congratulations, your wiring cutting test clearly localizes the short to clock/stereo branch of the fuse 19 circuit. You can now use your multimeter to pinpoint which component (clock, stereo, cigarette lighter) has the short.
By the way, I don't know why the tach is not working. Deal with this later.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
ok i DID cut the red wire in 2 places but not where you're talking about. I cut it AFTER the fuse box (behind it)...and also in FRONT of the fuse panel, in the harness that leads up into the shift column.
LIGHTS THAT WORK
-cruise button
-climate control (didnt work before i cut the red/blk wires)
WHAT STILL DOESNT WORK
-cluster lights (even door indicator and seatbelt indicator)
-clock (DID work before i cut the red/blk wires)
-radio does work, but for some reason there is no sound? that was never like that.
-tachometer for some reason (this worked prior to the wire cutting)
-blinkers dont work now.
after i cut these wires the 2 front driving lights work, along with the rear driverside, i had to run a wire from the red/blk rear driver side light to get the passenger side working properly.

I marked in red in the previous diagram the second Red/Blk wire you may have cut. To further localize the short, reconnect each cut wire one at a time to see which splice causes fuse 19 to blow again. Then reconnect only the wire that doesn't blow the fuse. When done, post lights and functions that now work or don't work.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
ok for sure i will do that, and fuse 15 isnt blown....
yea i cut the red/blk where the wire comes down from the harness which leads upward into the steering column, funny thing is if i try to re-attach these wires, they wires start to sizzle and i have to disconnect them, even tho they were originally together.
i have yet to reconnect BOTH wires i have cut, i've reconnected the red/blk BEHIND the fuse panel and then the driving lights will NOT work, but once everything is cut then everything is alright.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
since i cut the red/blk BEFORE the fuse panel, fuse 19 does NOT blow.
yes, im talking about the same 2 red/blk wires, directly in front of the fuse panel, and directly behind the fuse panel.
since i have cut them, i put a fuse in slot 19 and it does NOT blow..i still want to know when i re-attach the red/blk in front of fuse panel i almost start an electrical fire. it doesnt make any since.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
If only two Red/Blk wires are seen exiting the fuse box and you have cut both, then logic dictates that additional Red/Blk wires must also exit the fuse box but were missed because otherwise the parking lights and taillights would not work. I know it's difficult to work under the dash, but there must be at least one more Red/Blk wire that exits the fuse box and was not cut.

Re: 95 SI Weird Electrical Problem
you said this red and black wire goes up towards the steering coloumn.. does it happen to go to the headlight switch???? its burning because you have a direct short. my advice is take the fuse out, reconnect all the wires you cut because you only caused more problems and trace that wire to see where it is burning.. did you ever take a look at the connector going to the switch like i said??
