93 civic dx ran, bogged, died, now will only turn over.
My 1993 Civic dx with the stock d15b7 isn't running. Basically here's a rundown on how everything happened.
Bought the car, it didn't run timing spark and fuel were all there. Turns out the previous owner flooded the combustion chamber, so i changed the oil, let the plugs sit out of the tubes, put a very minimal amount of oil into the plug tubes, turned it over til it started, ran it til the oil burned off and it ran smoothly. When I drove it home from the garage I was using, it would bog down if I opened the throttle too much, and when I would start from a stop at 1k-1500rpms. So I would start from 2k-2200rpms to keep it running.
Drove it like that for a couple of days, then it just randomly stopped. It had a cel that would come on only after the car had been completely warmed up, after I came to a complete stop. If i turned the car off then on again it went away. But it wasnt bogging down whatsoever.
The other day I went out to start it after it sat for a day. Had a really hard time starting, but eventually started. After it warmed up, I started driving and it bogged down badly, after I came to my second stop and tried to go it just bogged down so bad that it slowed me to a stop from around 15mph in first gear, and wouldn't start. It would crank and crank but no start. A couple of times it sounded like it backfired out of the intake tube.
I have a couple theories:
-possibly clogged fuel filter?
-or clogged cat?
Help would be much appreciated.

Currently:
Is there bright white spark at all four plugs?
Does the fuel pump prime?
What CEL codes are thrown?
Is the mechanical timing off by a tooth or two?

There is bright white/blue spark
The fuel pump does prime
I didn't think I could check the codes? I thought the cel would have to be on in order to check them? And can you check them if the car is running?
Mechanical timing is just about perfect. Like literally it might be of by a hair at most. I don't think I could get it any closer if I retimed it.

If there are no codes, the CEL will turn on and then off after 2 seconds when the key is turned to ON(II).
If that's fine, then check whether the fuel injectors are spraying fuel and compression test the cylinders.

Its really weird, obviously it turns on and the off when the pump primes, and it will stay off for a while. Once the car warms up then it will randomly come back on. If I turn the car off and on again then it doesn't stay on. It will prime and go out again. I've never had anything like this happen before.
I will do my best to check those, I'm not supposed to be messing with my car where I live, but if it doesn't run, then I have to do something right?

Oh, and what would be the best way to check for fuel coming from the injectors? I have a couple friends that are pretty fond of the take them out and spray all over the place, but I feel like there should be a safer, better way.
