NSX Brake upgrade on EK Si
I'm sure it's been done a BUNCH of times, so I was shocked when I couldn't find it in my search...
I have a set of 91 NSX front calipers and rotors, wanted to use them on our 97 EK (which we converted to 99-00 si spec suspension/brakes).
Anyone know where to find a good wite-up/thread on this conversion upgrade?
Thanks-
Dennis

Re: NSX Brake upgrade on EK Si (D.CACO)
well if you have the 99SI setup you will just have to re-drill the rotor, to your 4x100 specs.
i personally don't like this option so i would try and find a rotor that is 11.1" i 4x100 form. i belive people say that there is an older VW carrodo(sp) that has 11.1 inch rotor with the same specs of the 91 nsx, ITR ect.

Does the NSX caliper bolt right into the Si caliper mounting points? (I dont have the caliper here at the shop, otherwise I would check myself)
You're right, I have heard of VW or sumthin caliper that is 11.1 or so that fits for this swap. Anyone out there know for sure?
I agree with you, as Redrilling holes can be a recipe for disaster...
Thanks for the reply.

Yes, earlier Corrados had 4 bolts pattern that matches the Civics, though you'll need a hubcentric rings, cause the that part, Corrados are bigger.

Im assuming that you didnt pay a lot for the NSX rotors and calipers, right? I say this because I am wondering why you didnt just get something like a Rotora big brake upgrade.

Re: NSX Brake upgrade on EK Si (TODAeg6)
This is a RR car that we are racing in Honda Challenge. Last race at Buttonwillow raceway, we torched the front pads (Porterfields best racing pads- R4) . The padding crumbled off the backing plate...
so, obviously our brakes are overheating and we need to run larger diameter (we are running 00-99 Si/powerslots right now.
Obviously racing is $$, and I have an extra set of NSX rotors/calipers from my 91 NSX. The only reason why I am considering using them is because one of the other cars in the series is running NSX setup in an EG, and his brakes seem to work great.
Basically, if we can save 1000 bucks, it's worth investigating, and I was thinking you guys in the forum could help me make a decision.
Otherwise, an Endless/Stoptech/Fastbrakes set is probably the best consideration. I have never seen Rotora's on a race car yet. (Only Drift car's/show cars and that is completely different)
*please don't turn this into a "these brakes are better" thread... I really just want to know how to do the NSX conversion, and see if it's worth the time...*
Thanks for the replies.

Thanks!
Anyone know of any negative performance issues that can arise from such a conversion? (trying to avoid incorrect/unsafe install)

Where can we get hubcentric rings/ how thick? etc...
Better yet- is there a step-by-step somewhere (with photos still posted)?
Thanks,
Dennis

Re: NSX Brake upgrade on EK Si (D.CACO)
im not aware of one but, search for NSX brakes and i think there is a post were a guy hypothosized that, the early NSX caliper has less clamping force then an ITR caliper. i dunno if it has been proven wrong ill search for it though

Thanks for the links Slammed_93_hatch!
FYI, this is the info I got from Andrie, WCHC H1 fellow racer:
Andrie: The front caliper is a bolt on deal. The rotors is a bit tricky. You will need to get Acura Legend rotor (92-95) and redrill them to 4 bolts. In addition you will need to add 1.5mm spacers behind the rotors to push them out.
Hmmmmm....

hmmmm is right there is no way i would do that unless it was solid spacer, and then again i don't like the idea of redrillling the rotors
