Still some adjustments to be made. The industrial quality ribbed EPDM frame seal i ordered for the frame had little bit higher shore hardness I expected, so I have to adjust some tolerances in the design. One goal is to get this as airtight around the frame as possible for best filtration performance. Pollen in spring time is messy, no one wants that on their car interior.

Cabin Air Filter Retrofit set for EG/EK/DC2 NON-AC update:

Getting there. Only the drill jig is still work in progress. Over-engineered? Well...Yes. Best filtration quality? Yes. Perfect fitment? That would also be yes.

And also air leak/rattle prevention solution added:

Air Filter frame is covered from the inside with a thin fleece tape, originally meant for wrapping wire harnesses. Complicates manufacturing? Yes. But once I tested the tape, my first thoughts were that its a "must have addition" to this frame. It seals the filter to the frame perfectly and also prevents it from rattling around (not that the soft filter would rattle, but anyways...).

Outer frame is currently sealed to the OEM duct with industrial quality ribbed EPDM seal to prevent air leaks around the filter (frame halfs are not bolted on together in this pic, thats why the parts arent lined up). I´m still testing on how the foam seal works and after the tests I´ll choose which one im gonna use for final product. Usually EPDM is superior if the tolerances are tight, but in this case every OEM duct is deformed differently during years of heat cycles and use, so foam might be a better choice for this use to guarantee perfect fitment for all the customers.

btw. I removed nearly all the listings from the ebay. Got sick and tired of those insane ebay fees. I need to bump up every items price just to counter the fees for this to be even remotely profitable and it doesnt fit in to my mindset that customers need to pay for that. So from now-on, if you want to buy something, just DM me in instagram, or hit me up in honda-tech private messages untill I get the webshop up and running. These cabin air retrofit sets for example wont be listed to ebay.

Allright. First cabin air retrofit kit was sent to a local customer today. Bought some packing materials and new correctly sized carboard boxes, so I can send this fully assembled (same insane shipping costs if its assembled or not, so...).

This first pic will also show the small drill jig underneath the frame which also doubles as an stiffener if needed. So you can use that jig under the bolts when installing the filter frame or not. Your choice. Small red stripes on the filter outer frame are alignment marks for the outer frame mounting bolt holes. I have designed the outer frame so it doesnt matter if your OEM duct is warped during the years of use. It has super soft, big expansion percentage foam that seals the frame to duct and also additional screw mounting points that can be used to adjust the fitment if needed. Thats why the red alignment markings are there.

Havent shown this feature yet:

That small flap in the cutting jig/beaty bezel is a removable drill jig for the upper main frame attachment bolt hole. Once you mark and drill the 4mm hole to the duct, you just snap that flap off and install the bolt. Its easy to snap off, because I have drawn a small open slot under the flap where it will snap off.

Filter lid/cover has a round installation hole in the backside for 8mm magnet. This is because im releasing a new clip to the AC harness which will delete the old zip tie clip. New clip supports 8mm diameter magnet, so the wire harness is magnetically installed to the filter cover for easier filter swaps. Filter lid also has a super soft foam seal which presses to the filter itself when the lid is closed. All these seals and fleece tapes etc. Will ensure the best filtration quality without leaks around the filter element.

This is fully optional and my filter frame kit only comes with integrated support for this feature. There will be no magnet installed or the clip included. Clip will be free to download and print from thingiverse.

Complete package:

So, I have got some requests to design a replacement parts for JDM rear interior. These requests have been in the "bucket of wishes" to this day. Thought that I just might have some time and motivation towards this project:

Civic EG HB JDM spec rear seat pockets on the design table. Starting from the lid:

Current list of enhancements to OEM:

- Enhanced hinge mechanism for lid to stay open instead of slamming close from even a slightest bump.
- Support for switch operated light which turns on when the lid is opened and closes when the lid is closed. Light is hidden to the lid and the lens is not visible even when the lid is fully opened. (User needs to implement the light and switch, I cant supply these with light system).
- Support for foldable cup holder which is integrated to the lid and magnetically locked in place when in use.
- Integrated foldable box organizer flaps.
- All the main hinge parts are separate and easy to replace parts if one happens to fail. Hinge replacement parts will be free to download and print.

Spec list might change. I would love to add rotary dampers to the hinges to gain a true "soft close system" for the pocket lids, but those dampers are so expensive that it might be not worth of doing. Same goes for the hinges with integrated soft close system (and they are too big for this application).

Arm rest scanned:

Thats the next thing to draw. I will design the box after the arm rest. Arm rest should be wrapped with foam backed leather or vinyl by customer, just like OEM.

Edit: ...And armrest done:

Edit 2: Started to draw the pocket:

For EG tweeter pods, would it be easier to adapt the EK upper half to the standard EG lower half? Personally I really like the look of the angular EK tweeter panels.

I dont know if its easier or harder, but doable. I can design that kind of pod as well as this Carrozzeria style pod. I have lots of stuff still on the design table and the wishlist, currently just trying to survive with the amount of work around this HiTecMods project.

JDM rear pocket:

Still have to finish the swappable hinge design as well as all those little additions that i want to add. But looking good so far.

VTi trunk box locks:

Its been a little bit pain to make these durable enough. Had to raise the screw position to get more material around the mounting screw, so yes, the screw will not be as low as in OEM parts, but this sacrifice was needed to make to get these durable.
