2000 civic ex - bogs and misfires
My 2000 ex has a 97 y8 head on it. But when I'm shifting to third gear and I accelerate between 2000 and 3000 rpms it'll bog down and misfire it sounds like. Also when it's idling and you give it a lot of throttle it'll do the same thing. Anyone know what this problem is? I've replaced the plugs and wires. And have a new tps to put on it.

Well when It had the wrong intake manifold on it which was making a vacuum leak the tps was acting up so that's why I bought one. But I thought the timing was ecu calibrated?

The ECU controls it within the capabilities of the hardware. You can't just slap everything together, though - the hardware doesn't have infinite self-adjustability. Get a timing light. Jump the service connector. Check your ignition timing. Get a voltmeter. Test your TPS before blindly replacing it. Is your CEL on? Does it work?

Could it be the fuel filter? I mean if it was timing it wouldn't just completely shut down at 2k and 3k rpms. If you ease it past those rpms it's fine. I mean it still has a loss of power but not as bad.

You were given two things to test, and two questions to answer, and came back with something completely unrelated and no answers. That won't get you very far around here. It is most likely not your fuel filter. Is it most likely related to one of the four things I've already given you to check.

Well I had them check. It wasn't timing related. That's why I didn't say anything about it. Only code it's throwing is o2 sensor. And it's brand new. Installed Saturday. So I just had another thought. Due to it has struggles starting sometimes and when it's low on fuel it hardly starts.

The forum rules exist for a reason, read them.

It doesn't matter that the code isn't related to timing. It could damn well be related to your drive-ability issues.
Doesn't it raise a little red flag in your head when you throw an o2 sensor at your car without diagnosing it, and it doesn't fix the CEL?

So primary O2 sensor, then. Your primary O2 sensor failing could most certainly cause these symptoms. You replaced the sensor with a new one, and it immediately threw the CEL? Did you reset the ECU? Reset the ECU, and see if the code comes back. While you're at it, inspect the exhaust manifold for any cracks, especially near the O2 sensor.

It's a brand new header. DC. That's why it was in at first. The shitty cast iron cracked all over the place. The fuel filter was awful. It was clogged. So hopefully that did it. I reset the ecu and will see if it comes back on tomorrow
