1992 honda crankshaft pulley,bolt
hello fellow honda drivers.
i have a 1992 honda civic dx 1.5L.4cyl.this car the crankshaft pulley came off wile driving.now pulley and the crankshaft hole and bolt tread are damage.i can get a replacement pulley and bolt, but the hole treads are damage and i do not want to replace engine,i need good suggestions please. is HELI- coil any good considering the torque?
since the car has some miles, i do not care if welding is permanent.i am thinking on welding the pulley to the crankshaft, but i need to find what weld is good since the pulley and the crankshaft may be not the same metal.is arc weld good?.also if welding is best,do i need to look for any seal getting damage?.
thanks you for any help

Ouch... Did the bolt break off and the thread is still in the crank? I don't think a HELI- coil will work due to the 134 fl/lbs of torque... You could try drilling and tapping in new threads to a larger diameter. You should consider having a machine shop do it. They can probably provide you with the correct grade bolt as well.

thanks for the reply
i am going for the tap/die,making new tread in the hole.so i will need to drill hole and make new tread, right,i guess i need a bigger bolt,is this honda bolt metric? the one that came with car is 1.85mm.where can i get one size bigger?i am going to see if a shop can do it for me without removing engine.
