Re: 16's or 17's, Which is better? (Ej Girl)
i got 17's on both of my civics. 42mm offset, 205/40-17 2-2.5 drop. no rubbing at all. i switched to 15's at one point, but i kept having traction problems, and couldnt corner as hard. so i switched back to 17's. im sure i could have gotten better performance with different tires, but i didnt have time to keep trying different ones. anyway thats my 2 cents. good luck.

16's it is. thanks for everyone's opinion, it was a big help.

<U>can anyone suggest me the right tires? smileycvc mentioned 215/45/16.<U>

I have 17's on my EJ8 they look good and all but in retrospect i wish i had gone with 16's maybe 15's...I rub every now and again with an off-camber corner or dip in the road. Nothing serious and could probably be fixed by raising the passenger side of the car just a hair....But they are heavy and severely impact my acceleration and braking

I'm getting 15s for my EG. 16s are hard to beat in some styles, like if you had 16" M7s then it's game over. No, actually, 5-lug swap w/ 16" MF-10s, That is game over, to me at least.
17s will bring you no benefit as far as handling. Bigger rims=better handling is a myth. The width and tread of the tire is what gives you grip in cornering, and the height of the sidewall (plus other factors, such as compound and suspension) that gives you launch from a standstill.
So are you looking for clean and functional or "The Bigger the Better?"
This is all my opinion, I'm sure others might agree, but an EG hatch has enormous potential for being the ultimate FWD street car/weekend racer, especially for road racing, or togue, so it brings me joy when one is done properly, which is about 1 in 100 in my neck of the woods. Had to let it out...there are too many bad Hondas where I live, the poor cars.

I think theres alot of diffrent aspects just cause I have had them all. 18s on 00 coupe that was all style and no performance and then got a eg with some 17s and a swap and it would wheel hop real bad as soon as I went down to a 16 I got rid of the majority of my wheel hop and after I turbo it plan on getting some 15s with slicks for the track. but each diffrent size offers something diffrent. to me 17s and 18s are more show (rice or not it looks clean to see that wheel tucked up in the fender well) and 15s and 16s are more for your performance aspects.

Yeah, I guess there's no 1 way to modify a Honda, or any car, but I still prefer looking at Honda from a racing, functional point of view. I know....to each their own. And whatever makes you happy. Shoot, I had 18s on my 4th gen lude, yet they were Sparcos and weighed less than my stock 15s, they were still ginormous, but I gotta say I loved them, because nobody had them, and that's as small as they made them (NS-06 Cheetahs).

I use to rock 17"s on my old Ef hatch when the big rims on imports was big (and I was in high school). I had low profile tires (195/40) and hated the ride. Not to mention the tires were expensive.
I now rock some 15" Konig Heliums. I absolutely love them. Tires are a lot cheaper, ride quality is nice, and they look perfect on my Del Sol.
Either way I agree with what was said before and go with a a good quality rim. I paid $800 for my 17"s and the 15"s were $425 thanks to a great sell in the sponsor forum.

Dude, it's all really opinion. As soon as I went into this thread I KNEW that everyone was going to say, 16" is pushing it and 17" are rice and all that bull. FALSE. It all depends on your set up and what you're looking to acheive. I have Tokico Illuminas with Tokico springs and I usually set them around 3-4 with 17's and my ride feels fine, not much rougher than it was with my 15's and I hug the road better than I did with 15's. If you think 17"s look good, then try them. People are too quick to shoot down things just because it's not in style, if you think it looks good, do it, don't ask a bunch of random people without pictures for reference.

if you have bigger rims...you'll waste more gas.
trust me theres a diffrence between BIGGGER rims and SMALLLER rims
16's or 15's are just right
you go with 17's you'll probably waste gas, and performance wise isnt gonna be to good
