$5 well spent :-D
i decided to sea foam my car today. i just wanted to post a little testimonial about the stuff cause i think it worked great. it only cost $5.24 at advanced auto, and took about 30 minutes to do, only because i did it twice with about an hour or so in between. a few things...
1. for those afraid of hydrolocking, i poured a **** load in the brake booster line at first and it just stalled out and then i started it back up again to make sure everything was ok
2. i poured it slowly, letting it sit everytime the car would idle high
3. after the revs evened out, i shut the car off for 5 minutes
4. then i started it, and rev'd until the smoke cleared and none was coming out of the exhaust
(about an hour later with half the can left)
i repeated, still got smoke to come out but not as much as the first time. next week ill put in another bottle because i didnt want to just dump it in on the first sitting while never doing this before. my car just turned 116,000 and i changed the oil 1,000 miles ago.
the outcome: faster start up, ehh same idle, doesnt bog down when starting off, clutch grabs faster and feels tighter, doesnt hesitate when rev'd. i guess we'll see if my mileage gets better than 350/tank.
i recommend this product to everyone. its only $5 a can, so thats like not eating mcdonalds for lunch one day

I've used it twice also, but I changed my plugs a few days after one seafoam session and they were hit bad. I have pictures to show, my plugs were pitch black man.
So remember two things if you seafoam: Change your oil soon afterwards and check your plugs, you may need to clean them off with a wire brush like I did!

Re: (6psisi)
if your using good quality plugs like NGK Iridiums you dont need to change the plugs after i've done my car 3 times and never changed the plugs. that part is a total myth. if u have some old shitty plugs that are already gas and or oil foulded out then that my do it but no u dont need to change the plugs everytime u use it

im tempted to try this cus my z6 isnt doing to well on gas. but the thing is that i jsut changed my spark plugs to ngk's (factory replacement) so i dont know if it would make them go all nuts. but yea do they sell this stuff at like a kragens or a autozone???

Re: (HeterHsan)
yeah they have it at those places, if you still have your old plugs laying around put them back in there temp so you can run the seafoam in there then put the new ones back it so they wont get harmed even though i never have had it happen to me

Re: (Donkey85)
is it true that it would be bad to run seafoam through my old 174,000 mile motor. My motor burns oil and i heard good things about seafoam, i know it wont fix it, but i have heard that it will cause the leaking and burning to worsen. is that true?

Re: (civiccpedx)
the only way i can see that being true is if your oil is burning cause of your rings...say you let goop build up on your rings and stuff then hey your helping it seal itself some ..then u throw that in there and it gets rid of your goop build up then it leaks like a bastard...other then that this sounds ligit..im into doing this kind of maitnance. i uses B12 chemical crankcase or gas tank treatment seemed to work plus B12 chemical has been around hot rod builders forever.
I think im going to have to try this but i have high miles too and notice some oil dissapearing. Now i have a Crx with an Ls motor so where whould i be putting this stuff in? i notice u said brake booster line..where is that im sitting here thinking my booster that my master cylinder is hooked to so im like wtf??let me know!!

Not true at all. I would never ever pour this stuff in my oil. This stuff breaks down sludge and other crap, where do you think this sludge is gonna fall to, not any where good. I have also posted many times about this, but I have actually seen people ruin engines after using this product.
If anyone wants a good way to clean there inside of there engine, simply use water. Rev the engine up and spray water into your throttle body, your steam cleaning the inside of your engine this way.

Glad you recommend it, but please elaborate on how this helped your clutch out ?

Sorry I am kind of lost about what your saying. But if there is a build up on your rings, this build up could actually help seal the rings better. Pouring seamfoam in can actually make the seal worse.

thats why you put it in the oil right as your about to change the oil. second the "sludge is going to fall into your oil pan and just sit there. then then oil screen on the pick up tube will block it. second it that lets some through then the oil filter will pick it up. and please enlighten us as how is "ruined" peoples motors after use.

That is how you could clean your engineon old school domestics....
I do not now if I would do that on a fuel injected engine.

Re: $5 well spent :-D (93CivicSI)
we are getting alot of conflicting replies here. I would love to think of seafoaming to be a very good thing but since that incident with my plugs I can't see past it. Now when I think of seafoam I think of it causing more harm than good.. hell, I dunno...
Anyway, let me address some things here right quick;<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Donkey85 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">if your using good quality plugs like NGK Iridiums </TD></TR></TABLE>I had in some Bosh Plantinum +4's and justy recently switched over to NGK V-Powers for their value plus the Bosh ones were garb. I never said you needed to change them, if you are responding to my post, you just might have to clean them - something you should do anyway to help see a difference from the seafoaming.
