30k is enough to buy a 1st Gen viper or a 2002 Z06 with nearly no miles on them, why the hell would you spend it on an Si with a body kit? ^^

Because those aren't Mugen, genius, and the whole point of the Si is obviously the better fuel economy.

Fuel economy is what smokes domestics when torque fails.

So simply writing Mugen on something allows one to charge 10k more for the same car? no wonder the aftermarket enjoys such insane profit margins with geniuses like you running around.

So by your logic the 1988 CRX pwns the 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago becuase the lambo only gets 9 MPG in the city. Tell you what, you rock out the CRX and i'l gladly pay the premium to cruise the lambo.

You know, who cares if someone spends $30K on a civic or $30K on a Vette, it is a matter of taste.
What's worthless to one could mean the world to others. Again, buy what's going to make you happy. if you're one of those people that has to absolutely be the fastest on the street at all times, newsflash, there will ALWAYS be someone with a faster and better car out there, so just buy a car that will be fun to own to you.

Again to some people being the fastest from stop sign to stop sign means everything <roll eyes>, then yes, performance-wise it would make more sense to buy a used sports car.
Some people are just die hard fans of Honda, and that's who I see buying the Mugen Si.
Shoot if I had money I'd probably go out and buy a '00 Type R right now to keep as a toy.

On a side note. You go and buy an used ANYTHING domestic and good luck with reliability, specially sports cars. I used to be one of those guys that used to say "buy american only", but then I was always asking people for a ride to work because my car was broken half the time. And that was being extremely an@l about maintenance. And it gets worst with mods, specially if you're not on top of things with maintenance.

There are multiple pages of peoples "opinions" throughout this thread. To who ever reads this looking for sympathy or just trying to convince themselves whether to buy the Mugen Si or not based on other people's input, good luck. If anyone is thinking of buying, look into reliability, and whether you like the car (fk what everyone thinks, if you like it , it buy it).

What gets me is, all these people saying they wouldn't pay more for the Mugen Si, but then look at how many people jock the **** out of Mugen parts and pay rediculous prices for them.

Just go over to the appearance forum and watch all the fan boys drool over every Mugen part they come accross. It's easy to see how this car will sell really well.

That's the thing...it will only sell to hardparkers and people who want to feel JDM special, it's not really a higher quality Si. Real car enthusiasts won't bother with it.

Absolutely.

What really bugs me these days is... at least here in Portland, if you have a "Honda-Tech" meet, 200 highly modified cars show up with tons of expensive parts on them. Then you invite them all to the autocross the next weekend and no one shows up.

lol

I think the majority of Honda enthusiasts don't do it for performance. Which really bugs me. I personally would rather be out railing on my civic than sitting in a parking lot at a "meet".

But it just goes to show the direction of the majority of the market. Just another reason I believe that these Mugen civics will sell really well.

Just think of how much attention these Mugen civics will get at local Honda-Tech meets? That's what kids want these days = attention.

I'm sure these thing will have no problem selling out and sure it will get some attention at car shows, ...but its not like its a 1978 nissan skyline. no one is going to be drooling over this car. you could just go to the dealer and pick up these parts (from what i've heard). they are just going to look at it for a couple of seconds and keep walking, its nothing special. I would rather have a 07 civic type r, that would be a show stopper. Anyways, if you have the money, then i say buy it.

Fuel economy is ghey. A D16 civic can get 300 miles to the tank just like a V8 can.

I mean people buy stuff to have it as a collectors item. If people are willing to spend 10,000 dollars on a 20th century nutcracker doll made by some **** grandmother, or 20,000 dollars on a Micheal Jordan rookie card...

why not a Mugen SI? Just depends on how mugen crazy you are. Not me though.

I'd much rather buy the SI for 22,000.. spend that 8 thousand in performance mods, then retake that picture of the evo and sti, with the civic at the finish line.

Think about that, you would buy a 22K civic and pay 8K in mods to beat a Evo and STi. How lame.

If you think you can beat an STi or EVO with only $8,000 of mods in anything other than a drag race you let me know, I have some nice lakefront property in the Sahara for you.
