Why do 8th Gens suck in snow?
My 07 LX manual coupe is downright terrible in the snow. I had an EG before and even with crap tires it was way better for getting out of snowy parking spaces, etc. I've been unable to move on 2-3" of snow and ice. I saw a few other FAs and FGs stuck in the city today too.
I'm assuming the Si's LSD helps it in situations like this. Does anyone make an LSD for the R18 cars? Are the factory tires to blame? I don't really think I should have to bother getting snow tires on a FWD car in an area where it snows 5-10 days a year.
My car also has a lot more lift-throttle oversteer in snow than my old Civic, which is fun but was pretty surprising.

My Si worked like a champ in the recent Oregon snow with the stock all-seasons. I just kept it slow and I had absolutely no problem. Didn't notice the traction icon blinking much/at all, either.

Mine handled horribly as well, in an automatic to boot.. At first I t hought my blizzak tires helped, but in the end they really didn't.
From a standstill everyone would start moving and it would take me at least 3-4 times as long to catch up to speed since my tires would just spin and spin.

Honestly? Just stop racing around in it! I was surprised at how well I was maneuvering when it was snowy/icy/slushy out.

we just got our '07 si sedan last week and this past weekend nova got a couple inch of ice/snow mess....didnt have much issue. I mean off the light u gotta feather the gas a lil, it is a FWD car btw but driving around i had no issues with traction or anything. Coming from our STI with Blizzarks tho, its poo lol......that setup tore up the ice storm we had eariler this year.

Your EG probably did better in the snow because of the narrow tires. Get some snow tires and it will DRASTICALLY improve your handling/traction in the snow. I had an E30 BMW w/ snow tires, and I got up to the ski resort in almost a blizzard-like conditions once.

Yes. The Turanza EL400's suck. Typical "compromise" tire. Then again, mediocre tire selection was always an area that even the automotive press would criticize Honda for. Unless the car said NSX or S2000 on it, shitty tires were (and still are) the norm... Lots of people never realize this, but the BIGGEST improvement you can make to a car besides putting a properly trained driver behind the wheel is to put better rubber under it, ESPECIALLY once people see with their own eyes just how SMALL the average tire contact patch with the road actually is!!!

Like I said above, then get a better set of all-season tires. I cannot wait until the Turanza's are done. I'd ditch them sooner, but I already spend $750+ a year on Kumho V710 race tires along with entry fees and such brings my yearly autocross budget over $1200. The CFO (Chief Financial Officer a.k.a my wife) isn't going to sign off on a $600 set of Kumho ASX's. Do I like Kumho, yes, especially because I win their money.

The summer tires are an absolutle joke in the snow... but when I put on the EX wheels with stock bridgestones the car does 9349876 times better.

Driving in snow on summer tires is begging Darwin to kick your ***, so -1 to you for even doing it. Also, all All-Seasons are going to be a compromise, and the OEM ones on 99.9999999% of Hondas SUCK. Get some better tires, and you will be fine. If you still aren't, I recommend a driving school.

Lets keep things simple... definition of "snow":
Frozen precipitation composed of ice particles in complex hexagonal patterns.
Frozen water = ice / extremley slippery surface = little to no traction in most cases.
At times its like driving around on an ice skating rink.

Well, you're driving on a very slick surface, so everything needs to be done with precaution. No sudden turns, braking, or acceleration. Leave enough distance between you and the car in front at stoplights, so that if you see another car about to slide into you from behind, you have enough room to move up or get out of the way. Etc. Etc. But you'll never have to worry about this, unless a "Day After Tomorrow" scenerio comes about.
But snow tires make things a LOT easier in snow---As seen here on my Snow PloweR.
