Default What's the issue with a flex pipe on a header?

I been seeing posts about flex pipe issues on the new civics and was wondering what exactly that was? I'm looking at the Invidia header with the 3" collector but has the flex pipe on it.

After more research I think i have it backwards. With NO flex pipe I will need mounts or inject my stock ones at least? Posts I found said if I have a flex pipe then mounts aren't necessary.

It's always good to have mounts with a header, even if it has a flex pipe or not. Eventually, the flex pipe will leak because of so much motor movement, so having mounts would help prolong the life of the header and/or flex pipe.

Does this only apply for 2006+ Civics because I've never heard of this before with any other car I've ever owned...

If you read up on 8th, a lot of people have problems with flex pipes on headers. You don't have to exactly buy the whole mount kit. Hasport sells the rear mount by its self and that's enough for a header. I haven't heard of flex pipe issues with Invidia headers yet, but I have read people have problems with DC Sport, Strup and Vibrant headers.

a header without a flexpipe will crack without mounts because of engine movement.
if you buy a header with a flexpipe then it can absorb some of this movement. but the flexpipe will eventually give out from the beating.

to completely eliminate it you would have to get mounts which would stiffen everything up , or inject your stock ones with some kind of polyurethane

Way to repeat everything that was said in the thread.
