Hermstick,
I would fight the ticket if I was in your shoes. I had gotten 2 tickets this past march in my previous dd, 05 gto yellow m6, and the first ticket was case dismissed because the officer did not show up and the second ticket, I am writing up my trial by declaration papers because I was hit with 80 in a 65! Radar sucks!

Re: (i-VTEC_DOHC)
google speeding tickets and you will find questions to ask the judge when you go to court like when was the radar last calibrated so on and so forth.... just plead no contest and do your research

Whatever you do do not follow emancivic's advice on pleading no contest, that is just as bad as saying guilty! Plead not guilty and PM Me your e-mail address and I will send you a book I bought online that will help you out in fighting that ticket! I recommend pleading not guilty and go to court! I went to court 2 weeks ago and beat a speeding ticket because the officer never showed up and I am going to do a Trial by Declaration in order to beat a radar ticket! Pleading No Contest is not admitting guilt but you are not going to contest the ticket and just pay for it!

If you really want what I would do would be to fight the ticket in court and talk to the prosecutor and ask to plea unsafe driving then all you would have to do is pay a cheaper fine then 23 mph over the speed limit and when you plea unsafe driving it covers up to 4 points so then this plea you would not receive any points on your drivers liscense.

lets just end this thread please.
if you weren't speeding to begin with you wouldn't have gotten a ticket, regardless of what excuse you have. like u were late to work or such. its better late than never.

Agreed...I keep my cruise control set at 5mph over the limit...like 70 in a 65. I'm never in that big of a hurry to do 23 over the limit

Re: SPEEDING TICKET 88 MPH ON A 65 ZONE HELP (Hermstick)
I'm not sure how things are over there in California but I will tell you the diffrent options in New Jersey. It may have some relevance.
1.) Easiest is to make some friends on the force and collect PBA cards, again things may be diffrent in CA. A PBA card saved me from a 90 in a 65 safe corridor ( fines double in a safe corridor) instead he gave me an obstruction of traffic ticket no points.
2.) Plead Unsafe Operations it's known as unsafe driving too. It saves you two points but, you will have to pay some hefty surcharges. Also, you can only use it twice within a period of five years if it is used for a third time during the five years after using the second one you will recieve 4 points. ( wich I would gladly take for any 5 point and above ticket since I've used mine up)
3) Hire an attorney and reduce the ticket to a 1-15 mph over speeding ticket. Here it's only two points. They really can't do much for speeding.
Check to see if any of those options apply to you over there in cali.

Re: SPEEDING TICKET 88 MPH ON A 65 ZONE HELP (opticnerv)
Every state got their own stuff going on. Your best bet is go to court and hope the officer doesn't show up or get lucky with a nicer judge. Other than that you pretty much gonna have to pay for it. I don't know about hiring lawyers, they don't come cheap and there isn't some trick here that they can pull out their **** to save you in this situation. I don't think lawyers would even take up this case.
By the way all that "they should give you an reciept for the radar reading" stuff? DON'T work. But remember if everyone is going 80 then stick with 80 or lower.
You got a fix it for exhaust? Put the stock back on and show them. Once that's over put the aftermarket one back on at your own risk. I don't know what happens if they get you the second time.

4.) Keep her under 80 since 20+ over is reckless driving = much higher fine (atleast in MD, dunno about your crazy *** Cali laws)
And i clearly remember the case in front of me that got thrown out because the officer admitted he didn't have proof from the radar . He was seriously embarassed. I almost lol'ed.

Re: SPEEDING TICKET 88 MPH ON A 65 ZONE HELP (jaepalm)

What is wrong with everyone? Why do you feel the need to go 90mph in a 65 or even 70 mph zone!? I have driven in alot of states and I know ya gotta drive with the traffic but i know the traffic aint goin 90MPH! IMO If you are going 20 over you should loose your driving privilige for a period of time. Its pretty ridiculous how you guys are asking how to get outta this ticket and how some of ya are posting "this is what i did to get outta my ticket". You guys are morans and deserve to pay these fines in full and get the points on your lisence!

Chill-lax Mr. Perfect.
Although i agree that asking for a way to get out of this situation is a bit far fetched, at the same I realize that all of us (except for you ofcourse) are human. Spoken like the true savage criminal that i am, i was nabbed for doin 84 in my POS saturn a few years back. I'm still kickin and the heart is still tickin'.
Oh, did i forget to say Chill-lax? No, i covered that.

Radars do not delete themselves every 5 min. It is your right (at least in IL) to see the radar.
If you take this to court, you can just say he wouldn't let you see the radar or that the radar was cleared. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

Re: (cimo463)
Hey Cimo,
I don't understand why you are calling people morons, you have never driven here in California *especially So-Cal.. Around my area, I get passed for doing 80 - 85, when I am driving with the flow of traffic. I can tell you for one thing, the ticket I fought in Ventura, California I got in my yellow 05 gto, I was doing 65 when I got a ticket for 93! Just because someone gets a ticket for 90+ does not necessarily mean they were going that. In my case the chp officer, had to do 93+ to catch up too me because all he saw was a yellow car, passing people that was doing 45 in the fast lane on a nice, clear and warm sunday early afternoon! Have you driven in Arizona between California boarder through the desert??? I was 90+ in a corvette and got passed by truckers there like I was standing still! The speed limit there is 70, and people do 95+ including Truck Drivers!
Also if you knew the real truth about Speeding Tickets, you would not be calling someone a moron because the real truth about Speeding Tickets is Simple Revenue Builders for the State and INSURANCE companies! Hell the insurance companies actually buys the Radar guns for the Highway Patrol, Sheriffs, Police and State Troopers, just so the officers can write speeding tickets, to generate more money for the different states and cause people to have higher insurance premiums.
Am I saying that I do not go out and speed on the freeway? No, I will admit, I have done 130+ on the freeway but I do not do that when it is not safe at all, if I go that fast, there is no one on the road when I do that.. What is next are you going to say that you drive the speed limit at all times and have never taken any car you have ever owned, or test driven over the 100+???? I will call BS on that one because a lot of people do that, including myself! I have only had 3 speeding tickets in my life since I was 16!, I paid the first one because I was doing every bit of what the officer clocked me at, the second one, I went to court and cop has not showed up. It comes down to the fact that since 95, I have had no speeding tickets and when I 16 - 20, I drove Trucks and most of the trucks I was driving were 350+ HP, the most powerful truck I drove was a 72 C10 swb fleetside, 800 HP! My 68 has 368+ hp and when I actually go through the engine on that one, will have 500 - 600 HP, my camaro 350+, my gto I had 400+, and now my Si 197+! So HP and speed are really not new to me!

Re: (dmnall)
ok I am sorry for calling people morans. But what I said does not apply to you since you were not going 90+. And I admit i have gone over 100 but like you I was on highway late at nite with no one else on the road. I have never drivin on the highway you were talking about where truckers are goin 95+ but most major highways and freeways your not going to see the traffic going 95+. I no I sound like a dick but if you get a ticket just be a man about it and pay it. Thats the chance you take for speeding. Now i would agree with you if you were only goin 10mph over the limit or something like that but 25+ over is a little to much IMO. I have gotten my fair share of tickets for speeding. I was once a teenager with insurance that i was not paying. I could of caired less then. But IMO if your going that fast and get caught then man-up to it and dont try to weezel (sp?) your way outta it.
