Slugglish on Gas?
Ok so ever since the day I got my Si it's seemed slightly sluggish on gas mileage...or maybe im just not reading it correctly, but regardless im feeling kinda like I only get about 17-19MPGs, while as I hear everyone else getting somewhere between 20-24MPGs. Now, i'll say when I drive, I do lean towards slightly more aggresive, and its mostly 90% of the time, city driving so lots of stop and go action. Although I don't think that when im accelerating its really that hard. I mean...when im driving my car, I kinda have the mindset (this is an si...I shouldn't be accelerating like my grandmother).
Any thoughts, any are appreciated, thankyou

In the 07 my worst has been 25 mpg and the best 33 mpg. I average about 29 mpg with mixed city/highway driving.
My wife says she's been averaging right at 30 mpg in the 09 on her commute.

I would take the car to your local dealer and get it checked for codes. Tell them what kind of gas milage your getting. The way I calculate milage is that I fill it up, set my trip meter to zero, drive till I need a fill-up again. Then divide your total miles on the trip meter by the gallons it took to fill the tank.
I average around the same as you, but I am also running a Supercharge which uses more fuel because the reflash creates a richer fuel mixture.

It's a trade off. You could drive a hybrid flat out and you won't get as great of gas mileage if you drove like a senior citizen. Even thought it's a honda, its not a gas sipper like the dx/lx/ex etc especially when if you're driving more "aggressively."

This winter I've been getting about 16-20 (lead foot and warm-up time every time I drive) but in the summer I get about 20 city and 30-35 highway. I have a CAI but I used to just have the stock intake disconnected from the resonator and I got about the same mileage. Like 07FG2 said, drive like a granny and your MPG will be better. BTW, my old 92 Civic w/ vtec head swap, 10.5:1 pistons running premium once got 42 MPG driving around the island in Hawaii... I drove it like an old fart that day to see how good my MPG would get.

I see people acelerating from stop light to stop light when if you pay more attention you can time the lights to not have to stop as much. It takes practice and being aware. Not driving like a crazed beast or mindless drone light to light.
Try it on the next tank and let me know if it helps your milage. I taught my wife and it works for her.

If you drive like a bat out of hell 90% of the time of course your MPG's are gonna be ****. NOt only do you drive like that 90% of the time you drive alot of city driving. Stop and go + vtakk = shitty MPG's.
Drive below vtak preferably shifting at 3k and you should see higher numbers. Even if you do it half the time then youll see better mpg's.

How are you measuring your fuel economy fist of all. If you are going by the gauge and eye balling your trip meter this is definitely the wrong way to go about doing it.

Well i'd assume so, I usually just fill up, check where how many miles I was at, and then near the end of the tank I guesstimate...
Also. Maybe it being winter has something to do with it. Ya know like theres always the stop and go factor, and then usually in the morning when i start up, the cars gotta take a few mins to warm up...and then theres always the times when i'll drive somewhere, stay there for a few hours, then leave...and then the cars gotta warm up again...so idk I guess it being Winter could be one of the issues.

With mileage you reported and the aggressive driving you are reporting I'd say you are right in line where you should be and you DON"T have any problems.
Ultimately if you are worried about fuel economy you picked the wrong civic

Honestly im not worried about fuel economy at all... Im just kinda wondering if other Civic Si's were getting around the same area because i just wanted to make sure it wasn't a car issue. Obviously, its a driver thing

it's always the driver not the car....I always get highway MPG on my cars....09 Si sedan at 29-30MPG and retired 01 civic EX coupe 37-39MPG

i havnt been able to break 27 mpg but then again im a fairly aggressive driver and drive my car how i want to but honestly 27 mpg in half city half highway drivin isnt bad to me anyways.
