Default R18 broken motor mount

I broke my right side motor mount last weekend. I didn’t think that little engine was capable of breaking anything. The tech said he has never seen one of those break before and it probably broke due to torque. Just thought it was funny.

no need to get a hardon fellas thats a very common problem with this gen civic. there is even a bulletin about it. its not because of that mAd VtAk motor that puts out a deafening 100hp and about as much torque as my lawnmower.

you're lucky you only broke 1. all 3 of mine are shot. mad vibration from 1500 - 2500 RPM.

paid 90$ for the lower torque mount thinking its only 1, but turns out the other top 2 are gone too. dropped 220 last week for the 2 and should be comming on tuesday.

cheers

you paid 90 bucks for a lower torque mount?

they are 30-40 brand new at the honda dealership, who is selling them for 90 bucks?

90 bucks would almost get you aftermarket ones that are stiffer and more sturdy, for like 40 bucks more

you are talking about #13 and 14 in this page, correct? they are listed as 50 bucks, but depending on the dealership, you can get them for 30-40, whether they have a lot or very little in stock

unless you are talking about the mount that bolts next to teh timing belt. thats 90 listed.

im not quiiiiiite sure if it matters or not but thats for a del sol that probably doesnt have an R18. lol

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0

^ part 8, or "Lower - 1.8 liter Manual trans - 1.8 liter Manual trans" is listed there MSRP for 80.10$ since i bought it from honda it had tax. comming up to 90$ or so.

but it doesnt stop there. parts 1 (Coupe - 1.8 liter Manual trans - 1.8 liter Manual trans) and 4 (Coupe - 1.8 liter Manual trans - 1.8 liter Manual trans) were broken in my car. part 1 sheered in half completely. part 4 just had some premature wear on it. i also ordered part 7 (Coupe - 1.8 liter Manual trans - 1.8 liter Manual trans) but mine was perfectly fine as ive replaced them today.

will be returning part 7 tomorrow. pics after i finish my fogs

Wow, maybe I need to get my mounts checked. I've noticed my engine has had a lot of vibration here recently too. I thought about the torque damper but now you have me thinking it might be something else....Hmmmm

One bad mount will put more stress on the other ones and take them out prematurely. If you have a bad mount, replace it as soon as possible.
