what? turbines? you run a twin turbo setup? upgraded blowoff valve? a blowoff valve is hardly a performance mod but rather a device to eliminate compressor surge. octane booster is worthless as well.

and for the OP...a handful of people have been sucessfull boosting their cars with whats available right now. I am curious to see more NA setups but we all know what we're waiting for.

It is not about 4 years. If you get pulled over by a CHP (or any State, County, or City police in California) and they suspects the vehicle has been modified, they can do an inspection on the spot. You can refuse to open your hood without a warrant, but you can't stop them from looking under car. According to my neighbor, if they find modifications under the car, they have probably cause and can insist on you opening the hood. It really makes no difference at that point cause your already screwed. If they finds modification without a CARB sticker, he can write you a fix-it ticket. If they suspect any of the parts are stolen, they will impound your car. In addition, if they even suspect you have modified the vehicle but can't prove it at the time, they can request the DMV to require a smog before you can renew your registration. Even modification with a CARB can trigger a request to the DMV for a smog inspection. Btw, a cat-back without a CARB sticker is a ticket-able offense in California. A header without a catalytic converter is guaranteed.

I speak of this based on the experience a neighbor kid had here with a Sheriff. The kids father is an attorney and when I discussed the issue his son was going through, even he expressed his surprise as to how much power law enforcement has pertaining to these issues.

In most cases, the police don't really care unless they catch you racing around or have a vehicle with an exhaust loud enough to be annoying. Header & Apex exhaust sounds like it "could" fall into the annoying category.

I am not trying to tell him what modification to do or not do, I am just trying to let him know that there "could" be consequences. I was offering a power solution with less risk.

How does this work 4 years from the time you bought your car? if i got mine in July '07 means I do not have to smog check again until July '11???

Planning on doing Buddy Club Race Header and GReddy Evo 2 Exhaust, have not heard buddy club exhaust but might go with that since I'm going to go with BCRH.

Well input on this CA smog thing would be helpful.

on new cars its 4-6 years from purchase date.

Thanks.

I brought this post back from the dead to ask that question instead of making a new thread.

Perhaps an HFP axle back would sound nice with a BCRH/DCRH, I plan to do cams probably in a year... thats how long i think it will take for decent fuel management. With the BCRH larger piping should yeild better gains.
