Re: new 2013 civic!
I think what honda needs to do on the new gen civic is to put a little nicer interior in the car, a little aluminum or wood trim wouldn't break the bank.
Then I hope I could fit the changes into my si without breaking the bank.

Re: new 2013 civic!
they need to actually change the look of the car completely... it looks just like a remodeled 8th gen which was the wrong direction Honda took.
Also the Si is a let down... I drove it and it was really boring! The car has no character at all. You don't feel i-VTEC and that it's not high revving isn't very appealing.
I'm not saying its a bad car just it isn't a driver's car. When I think Honda Si, I think high rev's, the VTEC kick and the fun package and the 9th gen doesn't make the cut just like the EP3 which I also owned.
They should of done a K22 or something give it higher revs, proper vtec and it would of been great. I won't like the torque the Si has is nice but when I was on the highway it just didn't pull enough for me like my FA5 does.
I like the new gadget also... i-VTEC gauge is pretty cool also.
Not knocking the car down just wasn't was most of us wanted or were looking for in the new Si...

Why are all the car makers jumping on the 'Lancer Evo' style bumper insert... it looks like crap...and only the Si has it... even worse...

Re: new 2013 civic!
After going from 01 built and boosted DC2 > 06 6 speed maxima > 08 evo x > 08 jeep srt-8 > 2012 sedan Si..
I am loving my 9th gen, maybe it was because the maxima was lame, the evo gearbox was clunky, and the jeep was auto, but it's tough to beat a honda gearbox, so smooth.
My only complaint is the rev hang which if I recall correctly is a problem with all of the Drive-by-Wire Si's, and I'm counting on Hondata to give me a fix for it soon.

The double wishie suspension would be awesome, but probably not going to happen..until they re-release the NSX ( coming soon)... I want this to happen too, and be available to be retrofit into the older 8th Gen...

Re: new 2013 civic!
It should definitely be an option in EX/EX-L models, but leave the fake wood out of SIs please.

Re: new 2013 civic!
I would love to see the Civic return a more sporty nature. The technology exists to keep engines rev-happy, and still environmentally friendly (unless you live in the rev-happy zone). Better exterior design that goes back to a time when car design was very purposeful, better interior trim combinations, better use of technology for dash layout, some form of infotainment.
And for the love of all things progressive, give the Si a bigger pair. Perhaps a modest weight reduction program vs regular Civic models, 220+ hp, slightly lowered stance, 0-60 in the upper 5/ low 6 second range. Better paint schemes that really evoke a passion other Civic drivers would likely care less about. Functional body creases, spoilers, etc. I'd even trade a screaming high RPM engine for a turbo motor that delivers the torque goods for daily drivers, and power for the tuner crowd.
I understand a return to a true spartan execution for the Si isn't possible (minimal/no electronic gadgetry/nannies, no P/S, no P/W, heavier weight saving program, etc) but I feel Honda needs to focus the Civic & Civic Si brand a lot better. If not the legacy of the "Si" will fade into a world of irrelevance (if it hasn't already). :-/

Re: new 2013 civic!
Well, it's good to see Honduh acknowledging that they messed up AND actually do something about it.
But I still don't think they can put a soul back into that soul-less 9th gen Civic. The car is not engineered to handle or bring any sort of joy to driving. There is nothing a mid-cycle refresh can change that.

Either you're back from the dead, or I have been away for too long.
Anyways, waddup.
To stay on topic, 9th gen civics are quite bland and I do not see Honda performing an MMR let alone a full remodel after only one year.
David was spot on with his post.

Re: new 2013 civic!
Honda needs to leave the hybrid technology, VSA, TBW **** out of their "sporty" cars. High revving, all motor beasts with rwd/awd and manual transmissions. LSD and ABS should be the only traction devices on the cars.
You can't make a "sporty" car with idiot proof systems and expect them to be "quick"
There was nothing wrong with the Integra GSR/ITR, hell even the LS was decent. 99-00 Civic SI, 00-03 S2K, (although I like the torque improvement on the 04+ the VSA **** sucks. The NSX 97+ was great. The RSX-S and the 06 SI. Acura even nailed it back in the day with the 95 Legend Coupe 6mt type II. The 03 Cl-S 6mt was great. They need to go back and look at THOSE cars and improve on them. Not change everything to be as soft as baby ****.
Ohh and lastly let them be built in Japan, then shipped here. So many less issues/problems.

Re: new 2013 civic!
new civics ARE boring, since like 09 they've been turning into camry's/corollas, for a split second i thought that picture WAS a camry/corolla - FIT's are now civics, the actual "civics" aren't even japanese anymore, they are WAYYY to big to be called a civic and a car that big still pushing 150hp 4 cyl is wack
lets not forget the tranny in my buddies 07 Si was absolute crap, i could shift my little 94 DX faster (which grinded slightly every gear when speed shifting) than his car which was a mere few years old and mine was almost 20
i hope they jump back on the figurative horse again
