Default Tell me I'm not crazy...

So as you may have or have not read in my last thread, I'm planning on trading in my LX for an SI. The only problem I encountered was the SI was 21,950 used w/ 26.5k miles (Not the 22,XXX miles /22k pricetag as I thought it was in the other thread).

So today I go back to talk to them, they refuse to negotiate on the price, saying it's a sure sale if I don't buy it.

Anyways, I refuse to pay $21,950 for an almost 27k mile civic SI (06 of course), so I ask to see there 07 civics. They have two, one is silver and the other is fiji blue. I ask what the price is.. and I'm astounded by the price. $21,685. SOMEHOW.. the brand new one (22 miles on it) is $265 cheaper than the year older model with 26,322 miles on it.. So I thought the older one mus have navi on it? New rims? SOMETHING?!

I talk to the dealer and we go over the options, and both are base everything. Nothing has been upgraded on either. So I ask out it could possibly be cheaper to buy a newer, no-mileage car than an extensively (26.3k miles in a year?) civic a year older? His response - Habanero Red is much better looking than Fiji blue. I, however, disagree, and I think the fiji blue looks much better than the red. This was the only reason he could give as to why a used car would be more..

Am I crazy for just walking out of the dealership? My salesman refused to even throw in mudflaps (I was joking at that point), let alone $5 off the $21,685 tag. I didn't think the price was too unreasonable, but just because of the fact that they won't even haggle in a minor option pushes me away.

Why didn't you just go with the cheaper '07... thats the only crazy part i'm hearing. No miles, better color, new model. Hmmm.

Maybe there are more benefits for the dealership when they sell a new car, compared to a used car. And so for a highly sought after, limited availability car such as the Si, the sales guy is probaby right, it'll sell anyway even at that mileage and price. I've noticed this trend a couple years back, when I was actually considering a scion tc. Same thing, 20k+ miles on it, still going for over 17gs, when you can get a brand new one for the same price.

I already told u...it's a certified..hence, it comes with a better warranty than a new one...I actually do know what I'm talking about here...the Used Car Manager got raped by his service dept..and now he owns the SI for too much money, and he has to overprice it..and the warranty costs him money too...Enuf Said..that's why...and just pay MSRP for the new one..no big deal...probably 99% have paid MSRP, why should u be any different??

Nope, don't pay a dollar more than you are willing to. That may mean a wait and looking around some (be willing to drive), but the dealership is there to serve you not the other way around, you will find someone to discount the Si for you (I got quoted MSRP - $2000 for a Sedan).

Honestly I think you did the right thing walking out of there. Selling a civic for more just because they think one color is better looking than another is absolute hands down total BS. . I can't imagine why they'd do something like that. But yeah if they're screwing around with you on why the used one is more expensive chances are they're gonna screw around with you on the deal with the new one as well.

Then you'll end up not happy about the deal you got on the new one to. Extended warranty or not there's no way the used one should be more expensive than a brand new one. Especially if it has damn near 28K miles on it. And you can always purchase the extended warranty on the new car to. Take the drive and find a better dealership. You'll be alot better off. If they sell as fast as the salesman claim they do then it would have been gone already. He's full of it.

when they certify it, you get an additional 12 12 bumper to bumper...and a 7 yr. 100k powertrain warranty.. so with 28k..not as much b to b..but you still get up to 48k..but your original powertrain is only 60k..so extended to 100k...better warranty..and you can also get what's called a "wrap" thru American Honda Finance, and I don't know about cost in other places..but it's only 880 dollars..and you can "wrap" the b to b to 100k along with the powertrain..The difference there is that Extended Warranty Prices in the State of Florida are regulated by the state...so they are a set price, you can't negotiate on warranties..but for those of you that live in other states..let your finance person know that they can't cost more than 880...and plus, they do the 150 point check..which is a good sense of security to know that you're getting a good vehicle..

I still don't think it should be more than a brand new Si. But that's just me.

man, if u are really wanting to spend $22k, i'll sell u my RR 06 si with 9k on it for that price. actually no i wont because then i'd lose money on it. get a brand new one in the color u want with the options u want. for $22k u should be able to get a brand new one with the fogs and lip kit no problem if u shop around. and the extended warranty can be purchased anywhere. there is none 0 zero no sense in paying that much for a car with that many miles. shop around and find what u want.

Oh Believe me, I totally agree with u..I told him before, he should be able to buy it for 20,500 - 20,800 with no problem..but that's probably it...but that's not entirely a HORRIBLE deal..but, he should just go with the new one anyways..for sure..

Well I traded in my 06 civic ex for an 02 s2000, they gave me 16200 for my car. I only owed 14k so the rest was put on the trade. Anyways, I had after market hids, cai, lowering springs and exhaust. They resold the car to some for 25k... there were about 9.5k miles on the car... I really hate stealer ships

25K for an EX. That's outrageous. They must have one too many when they bought that car.

They didn't sell your old car for 25k dude....no one in their right mind would pay 25k for an 06 EX if everyone's talking about people paying too much for an 06 si..who ever told u that is lying to you...
