Default Can I tell if they did the work?

Last week I brought my Si in to get the stereo replaced (cd wouldnt eject- dealer replaced under warranty). I showed the service manager the recall letter about the wheel speed sensor and the one about the passenger airbag sensor. He said they would check both recalls and to the stereo install. I get the car back that day and I don't think they took my rear wheels off - the key for my locking lug seems like it was not touched, and my dirty rims showed no signs of being removed and replaced (hand prints, smudges, etc).
Should I worry about this? Is there a way for me to ensure that the recall was actually performed?

There's no need to pull the wheels of to inspect the sensors.

Is this true? I thought in the recall letter is said the wheels come off first. I dont have the letter here at work, its at home.
If the wheels stay on, that explains it. I just really got the feeling that they didnt do anything at all.

w'sup guys, i just performed a few of those recalls, theres an o-ring inside of the speed sensor, the recall is to inspect it, if the o-ring is pinched or damaged then water can get in the hub, thats the only time we replace the hub , if the o-ring is fine then no prob. I guess the shoemakers that installed them at the plant werent paying attention. LoL

You best take it to the dealer to be looked at.

If you are affected by the recall you will receive a letter in the mail stating that.

If you don't believe that you can call any honda dealership and they can run your VIN and verify for you.

Hell, I work at Victory Honda in Monroe MI. I'll run VINs for ppl.

if your wheels did fall off and you had it inspected. They would be in big trouble. Im pretty sure when it comes to saftey recalls they check em out for sure.

I called to make sure that my car was not effected although my VIN is not one on the list in the post above but it is. My car is one that needs the recall. Do not go by the list of VINs someone posted - call to make sure.

I just bought(3 months ago) my wife an 07 galaxy grey EX sedan with the HFP package(18 inch wheels, susp.,honda car package) and the factory tire was a Parada Spec 2.Anyways I took it in for a noise that sounded and they blamed it on the tires. When I asked about the recall, they said it didn't apply to her car.To me it still sounds like a bad bearing and not tire noise.I used to be a tech at another dealer and a sevice advisor at this dealer and now work for Michelin Tires.I know what tire noise is.Also I've the headliner replaced twice and it still has the carpet peeling up on the right front corner where it meets the pillar.Honda said that this was a design flaw and is redesigning the headliners for all 06-07 civics with this issue.Has anyone had headliner issues?Should I know worry about a hud assembly coming apart on my wife and child while driving?I mean this sucks,my 270k mile 92 gsr has given less problems.

Well if you are trained and are 100% sure it is bearing noise then really press it with the service manager. Just cause it may not fall under the recall does not mean you cant have a bad bearing! It is under warranty and if the bearing is making noise it needs to be replaced. However I wouldnt be too concerned about the wheel falling off. No one knows what the circumstance was when the "towed" civic's wheels fell off. Even though the rear hub/bearing design is different from older civics, it still works the same as any other honda rear bearing on the planet! When was the last time you heard of some a rear wheel falling off a Honda with XXX,000 miles on it with a really old bearing? The media is just hyping up the recall! The reason Honda states that it could cause a crash is because they have to state the worst possible outcome on the recall... and that would be someone neglecting the corroded bearing making noise for years and it seizing up and stopping the wheel from turning...but really how long would that take on a sealed bearing? (I would guess a long time!)
I have not heard nor seen any issues with the headliners, just visors...

Default Re: Squeal like a pig for me!

I came home from work yesterday and my '06 (with less than 14K miles on it) was squealing like the brakes were wore down to the indicators (passenger front wheel). It was late (and dark) and I assumed there was something stuck in my caliper ... and I figured I'd look at it the next day. Nothing before this ... not a peep.

Next day, early afternoon, I went out and took a look ... but couldn't see anything. So, I jacked up the car and pulled the wheel off. Brakes looked perfect ... calipers were mirror smooth inside and out. I'm 90% sure it wasn't the brakes. Put the wheel back on took it for a test drive. Still squeals ... but squealing goes away in a straight line. Squealing comes back when I make turns in a parking lot.

I figure, it's got to be the wheel bearing.

I brought my car in for the recall in October for an inspection ... they found nothing wrong. That was about 2,500 miles ago.

I called the dealership when I got back inside and the service dept. had closed 45 minutes earlier. Of course they are close on Sundays.

Went nowhere today. Will call them Monday at 7:00am and probably make the drive 35 miles to the dealership if they can get me in that day. Thanks to Dr. MLK, I have the day off.

If it's from teh front it doesnt have anything to do with this recall. It only deals with the rears.

Ive been working on hondas for a long time and have never seen a wheel bearing make a squealing noise. Did you check the backing plate?

You think it may be the backing plate on the rears? I think the noise is coming from the front (passenger side) but I have been fooled by noises from the front vs. rear before.

I checked all around the passenger rotor/disk ... and it looked clean. It made noise going forwards and backwards.

Or are you thinking the backing plates on the disc brake pads? I suppose they could be causing the noise. I've never heard brake noise so bad before (and I've had several cars of different brands/typesand I even used to sell brake pads). I'm not sure what kind of shim or other silencer Honda is using these days. Honda OEM brake materials have always been pretty good.

The noise sounds like I've got a handful of piano wire against my rotor.

I suppose ANYTHING wrong with such a low-mileage Honda is "unlikely." But since it is definitely making a noise, something gone wrong must be causing it.

I'm not sure what it was ... but it's gone. A midnight test drive last night took care of that. I don't think I went more than 1 mile before the sound went away.

It must have been a bit of metal or a small stone that got stuck in the caliper somehow ... then dropped out or wore away to nothing. I'm just surprised it didn't etch the rotor at all.

Thanks for the feedback!
