Honda factory ECU reflash makes a big difference 2006 SI
I had my local Honda dealership reflash my ECU yesterday with the new files. This eliminated the rev hang issue and makes it feel like a standard throttle. It is much easier to make smooth shifts at high RPMs and in daily driving situations also. The biggest difference is the way the car behaves under trans brake. You can let off the gas in first gear without a chiropractor appointment. It no longer surges when the revs hang then release. If you have an 06 SI this is a must have. The dealership does it free and you can have your other safety recall done while you are there.
Thanks Honda for trying to innovate and try new things with your throttle by wire. Sometimes traditional behaviors are exactly that, tradition for a reason. I love my SI more than ever.

It reflashes the ECU with a Honda Diagnostic System scanner which loads a program into the ECU. I have not done one yet, but it takes about 10 minutes to load.. It's free and can surely feel the difference. Now the only recall that mostly come in are the rear wheel sensors.

I think my 07 has a slight problem with the rev-hang situation as well. Between shifts it sticks at the rpm I was just at momentarily before going down. Is that was everyone is talking about? If so, can you just go to the dealer anytime and have the ECU reflashed?

Sweet! I'm gonna do mine by the end of this year. I've got DC headers, throttle body spacer, and a custom SRI. Hopefully I will have great results with the Reflash.
Check out this thread for the custom SRI:
